Lip rejuvenation is often overlooked when talking about surgical procedures, however it can make the biggest impact on the face.
As we age, the length between the base of the nose and upper lip elongates, often resulting in a loss of upper tooth show.
To help address this area, a lip lift and corner lip lift, as seen in this before and after, can help create a more youthful appearance to the lower face. The lip lift is done by creating an incision below the base of the nose and removing excess tissue, which helps elevate and shorten the distance. The corner lip lift, done at the corners of the upper lip, help roll the outer portions of the red lip out, creating an even more youthful and fuller appearance to the upper lip.
This is one of my favorite "cherry on top" procedures to perform. e

My patient underwent a lower extended deep plane face and neck lift combined with lipografting of the mid and upper face, along with PRP. A key focus was enhancing the jawline contour, which is particularly important for achieving a more defined and youthful appearance.

Face and neck lifts can be suitable for a wide age range because the need for these procedures depends more on individual anatomy and structural changes rather than age alone. Factors like skin elasticity, bone structure, and overall facial volume play significant roles in determining the right approach for each patient. In this case, the results highlight a beautifully contoured jawline, complementing the overall rejuvenation achieved through the procedure.

I would argue one of the most important aspects of plastic surgery is the closure of any incisions to ensure the scars will be minimally visible.

As you can see in this video, minimizing tension during a lip lift is crucial for a natural outcome and proper healing. Excessive tension to this area can lead to visible distortion and pulling of the scar, creating an undesirable appearance. Maintaining a proper balance in the tissue as well as proper technique (and lots of practice 😉) helps achieve a more aesthetically pleasing result.

A one year post-op result featuring our amazing patient coordinator, Karen. She had heaviness to her upper eyelids and puffiness in the lower eyelids with dark circles. Karen wanted a more open and refreshed look for both her upper and lower eyes. I performed an upper and lower blepharoplasty with lipografting under the eyes to rejuvenate her eyelids and give her smoother contour. Fat was removed from the lower eyelids using a transconjunctival technique (from inside the eyelid without sutures). She now looks like a brighter, more youthful version of herself. 🙂‍↕️☝️👀
