Staying Grounded in Turbulent Times
I think I’m not alone when I say it’s been really challenging. And yes, I myself got caught in doom scrolling, and then a moment of waking up and recognizing this is not healthy and not helpful. This is our practice to recognize when we’re caught up in mindlessness or reactivity and to come back to the present moment. It’s not negating that there are many things happening that activate fear, hopelessness, and sorrow. But when we act purely out of reactivity, our clarity is clouded, and our actions risk being driven by impulse rather than wisdom.
Now, more than ever, we must stay grounded—not by turning away or becoming passive, but by cultivating inner stability. When we pause, breathe, and steady ourselves, we create the conditions for wise action. Groundedness allows us to respond—not just react—with clarity, strength, and compassion.
Let’s engage with the world—not through outrage alone, but through mindful, deliberate action that truly serves the causes of justice, peace, and humanity. And what are these actions we can take? For myself I have been looking at ways to take action that come from sources that deal with facts, not made up news. And there’s a Website called five calls.com where you can make calls to your representatives stating your views of what’s happening and asking them to speak on your behalf. There are even scripts on this website. Donate to websites that will speak out on our behalf. Boycott and don’t buy from places that encourage or support the harmful actions that are happening. It beats sitting and growing the anger.
Most of all take care of yourself and your loved ones and stay grounded. Meditate, stay embodied stay connected to your heart.
