Although Hurricane Melissa is not currently expected to impact South Florida directly, we all know the weather can change quickly. It’s always better to be prepared — just in case the storm shifts unexpectedly.

Although Hurricane Melissa is not currently expected to impact South Florida directly, we all know weather can change quickly. It’s always better to be prepared — just in case the storm shifts unexpectedly.

👉🏽 Here’s your friendly reminder to get your medication kit ready:
✔️ Keep 7–14 days of essential medications on hand.
✔️ Store your prescriptions and medical history in a waterproof bag.
✔️ If your meds require refrigeration (like insulin), keep an ice cooler and a charged power bank nearby.
✔️ Have your doctor’s and pharmacy contact info written down and saved on your phone.
✔️ During a declared emergency, you may be allowed to refill medications early.

🌧️ With Tropical Storm Humberto and another system approaching South Florida, it’s natural to feel a bit uneasy — especially if you live with diabetes. Preparation can help turn that anxiety into peace of mind. 💙

✨ A Diabetes Emergency Kit ensures you have what you need, even if the power goes out or you have to leave home:
✔️ At least 30 days of medications (insulin, oral meds, glucagon if prescribed)
✔️ Blood glucose testing supplies (extra strips, lancets, batteries)
✔️ Copies of prescriptions and your latest treatment plan
✔️ Healthy snacks and fast-acting glucose sources
✔️ Water and non-perishable foods
✔️ A small cooler with gel packs for insulin or injectables that need refrigeration

💡 Tip: Check your kit every 3 months so everything stays up to date.

Taking these steps today means you’ll be ready tomorrow — and that’s the best way to stay calm and confident through the storm. 🌈

👉 Save this list. Share it with a loved one. Preparation is caring.
