Ending the week with a truly heartwarming story from our nonprofit community 💙

The winner of the Nonprofit Council Beyond Words Storytelling Competition is Friends of Foster Children of Palm Beach County, Inc, recognized for a powerful and moving story told through an unexpected perspective, a simple pair of pajamas.

The story follows the journey of a donated item as it makes its way from a store shelf to the offices of Friends of Foster Children and ultimately into the hands of a young boy entering foster care. Through this perspective, the reader experiences the fear, uncertainty, and vulnerability a child feels during a moment of transition, and the quiet comfort that small acts of care can provide.

This story stood out for its emotional depth and clarity. It beautifully captures the organization’s mission of fostering happy childhoods by showing how dignity, warmth, and compassion can help a child feel safe during one of the hardest moments of their life. It reminds us that even the smallest comforts can have a lasting impact.
