White River Academy does several fundraisers each year to assist the young men attending the academy to fund service projects through out the Delta Community. Please come support them at Ace Hardware on Saturday. They will have all manner of baked sugary sweets.

Parents Are Part of the Plan!

Accredited by AdvancED, White River Academy provides a rigorous curriculum aligned with U.S. Common Core and Utah Core standards. Our courses support the therapeutic program and enable students to recover missing credits without bypassing essential college preparatory skills.
Operating on a six-term, year-long schedule, students can earn one and a half years’ worth of credit at a standard pace. Those thriving in the program may accelerate their academic pace by requesting additional classes and earn up to four academic credits by participating in the therapeutic program. Students can graduate with a Utah diploma, and as an accredited institution, credits generally transfer seamlessly.
We believe that all students can learn under the right conditions. Success, achieved through hard work, is the greatest motivator. Recognizing that resistance to learning is often rooted in fear, not laziness, we scaffold learning carefully and limit ways to avoid participation.
Our rigorous standards foster long-term student success by pushing them toward independence, not only academically, but in life. We are dedicated to creating effective adults.

Failure to Launch: According to the Developmental Vacation™ model, the initial goals of treatment are to interrupt the patterns of the adolescent’s behaviors that are allowing them to stay on their developmental vacation. This approach emphasizes disrupting the teens’ dependencies so that they may begin their developmental process by learning to cope with issues and take responsibility for their problems.

To combat adolescents’ developmental vacation and resolve negative behavior patterns, White River Academy ensures that students take responsibility for their own actions, helps guide them toward developmentally appropriate tasks that strengthen their values and character, and disrupts the dynamics so that the adolescents cannot maintain their dependencies.

The goal is to provide adolescents with experiences that assist them in acquiring competencies, knowledge and coping mechanisms they need to live independent and responsible lives as adults.

At White River Academy, Our approach to adolescent recovery may seem similar to other programs but while structure is important, we know that true transformation requires more than just rules.
