What do families often say after a service?
“That felt right.”
When we’ve done our job well, that’s exactly how it should feel. Thoughtful. Personal. Meaningful.

Funeral planning is a little like ordering coffee.
There are more options than you might expect, and the right choice depends on what feels right to you.
Curious what we mean? Take a minute to watch and see how the comparison makes sense.
And tell us… what’s your coffee order style? ☕

I came across a video on my TikTok “For You” page that stopped me in my tracks.
It showed a funeral coach going through a car wash… with a casket in the back.
Now before anyone jumps to conclusions — I have no idea if the casket was empty or not. And honestly, that’s not even the point.
The point is perception.
In funeral service we carry something far bigger than vehicles, equipment, or even the deceased. We carry the trust of families and the dignity of the profession.
When someone in the public sees a hearse going through a car wash with a casket in the back, they don’t know the context.
They don’t know the story.
They don’t know if it’s empty.
All they see is a casket in a car wash.
And in our line of work, perception matters. A lot.
Every action we take — every mile we drive, every door we open, every post we make — shapes how the public views the funeral profession.
Because to us it might just be logistics.
But to a family…
that casket represents someone they love.
And that’s why the little things matter.
Curious what others think — especially those in funeral service.
Where do you think the line is between practicality and perception?

One of the strangest phrases you’ll hear in funeral service is “casket burping.”
No… it does not mean someone moved.
During decomposition the body produces gases. In a protective casket, pressure can occasionally equalize through the gasket or valve.
Embalming greatly reduces this because blood is replaced with preservative fluid and the abdomen is aspirated.
But eventually biology still runs its course.
Education removes fear.

What do only funeral directors notice?
It’s the small details most people never see. The way a room feels. The subtle signs of care. The quiet moments families share.
