Your Body Keeps Score - literally!
Your fascia and nervous system are deeply connected, which means that your body will hold on to emotions and stress causing aches, pains, fatigue, etc…
And until you address those Issues, your body will remain In a stressed state of being


A little story…

About 20 years ago, if you would’ve asked me how I was doing…

I probably would’ve said:
👉 “I’m fine.”

Meanwhile my body was screaming otherwise.

At the time, I was navigating a divorce from an abusive relationship while also learning how to become a single parent.

And physically?

• My body was falling apart.
• I was gaining weight like crazy while not even eating 3 meals a day.
• The daily pain levels I lived with were honestly around a 9 most days.
• Everything hurt.
• My nervous system was exhausted.
• My body stayed tense & stressed out constantly.

And what I didn’t fully understand yet was this:

✨ The body remembers what the mind tries to survive. ✨


📖 A quote from the book “The Body Keeps the Score” -

“Being able to feel safe with other people is probably the single most important aspect of mental health.”

Because when your body has lived in survival mode for too long…
your nervous system starts acting like stress is normal- and It keeps you that way as your ‘new normal functioning’ way of living.

And eventually that stress starts showing up physically:
👉 tight shoulders
👉 jaw clenching
👉 headaches
👉 hip pain
👉 fatigue
👉 digestive issues
👉 chronic tightness
👉 inflammation
👉 feeling “stuck”

Your fascia and nervous system are deeply connected.

Fascia literally surrounds EVERYTHING in the body:
muscles, organs, nerves, joints.

When the nervous system stays stuck in fight-or-flight stressed out mode long term…

your body stays guarded.

Tight.

Protective.

And over time, those emotional stress patterns can absolutely show up as chronic pain and tension patterns in the body.

But healing through that time wasn’t just ONE thing for me….

It was:
✔️ psychotherapy
✔️ massage/bodywork
✔️ meditation
✔️ movement/exercise
✔️ breathwork
✔️ gratitude practices
✔️ learning how to feel safe in my own body again

And no… it wasn’t easy.

But it WAS worth it.

🙂Choosing yourself still matters.

Please don’t ignore the possibility that stress, burnout, emotional overload, or unresolved trauma may also be part of the picture.

Sometimes the body is asking for more than just “pushing through.”

Sometimes it’s asking for rest.
For safety.
For softness.
For healing.

And sometimes…
that healing journey starts with simply allowing yourself to slow down long enough to listen 💙💚🧡

🌿 Wellness Wednesday 🌿

May is Mental Health Awareness Month

This one hits close to home for me.

There was a time in my life where I was struggling HARD mentally.
I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, Manic Depressive Disorder, seeking therapy after a messy divorce from an abusive fella, and navigating being a single mom trying to protect my som from so much trauma and drama
Deep depression.
Constant stress.

Feeling stuck in survival mode with more anxiety than I could put Into words.

And to be quite honest - My monthly massage sessions became one of the few things that helped keep me grounded.

Not because massage magically “fixed” everything…
But because for one hour… my monthly massages not only made me feel physically better, but also helped me mentally calm down and think rationally and honestly kind of kept me going going.

And when the body starts to feel safer… the mind often follows.

That’s the thing people don’t always realize about massage, fascia work, stretching, breathwork, and recovery work:

✨ It’s not JUST physical. ✨

Your nervous system and your body are constantly talking to each other.

When your body stays tense, stressed, guarded, inflamed, exhausted, and stuck in fight-or-flight mode for too long…

Your mental health feels it too.

Massage therapy helps shift the body into a more parasympathetic state:
👉 rest
👉 relax
👉 recover
👉 reset

And I’ve had clients tell me that their sessions helped them through:
✔️ seasonal depression
✔️ anxiety
✔️ chronic stress
✔️ emotional burnout
✔️ feeling mentally overwhelmed

That means more to me than people probably realize.
And I am so grateful that I get to be part of that journey with my clients.

Because sometimes self-care isn’t about being fancy.

Sometimes it’s simply giving yourself permission to exist for an hour without carrying the weight of the world.

No performing.
No pressure.
No constant notifications.
No expectations.

Just breathing.
Relaxing.
Resetting.

I mean it from the bottom of my heart 💚

That pain In your butt?
(No, not your spouse or kids, but the actual pain In your butt)…

👉 That’s your Piriformis - and It can cause a pain that oulls tge lower back muscles, cause hip pain, and can also cause that sciatic pain! 😳

🎾 Quick Fascia Release to release tightness within the many glute muscles (Including the piriformis)

1 - grab your tennis ball
2 - sit on the floor or hard surface chair
3 - slide that tennis ball Into the ‘glute pocket’ —- this Is where a back pocket would be If wearing jeans
4 - now just let the tennis ball do the work!!

⏰ Stay sitting with the tennis ball Into the glute for AT LEAST 3-5 minutes!
Its takes that time for the fascia to melt and release - giving you less pain In your butt!!

Bonus:::
you’ll feel like you’ve deflated a buttcheek when you take out that tennis ball 🎾🤣

🐾 Self-Care Saturday - Furbaby Edition!

Let’s be honest…

Your dog stretches more than you do.
Your cat takes recovery more seriously than you do.

…and neither of them has a job. 😂

My furbabies show me daily that I’m not stretching nearly as much as I should be - and given what I do for a living, you’d think I’d be better at taking my own advise 🤔


But meanwhile…

You wake up
📱grab your phone
🏃‍♀️ rush your morning
🚫 ignore your body
😣 and go straight into stress mode

🐶 But your pets?

They wake up and immediately:
✔️ stretch everything out
✔️ take slow, deep breaths (aka dramatic sighs 😌)
✔️ move when their body tells them to
✔️ rest without guilt



🧠 There’s actually something to that…

Stretching + slowing down =
👉 better mobility
👉 less tension
👉 nervous system reset
👉 clearer mind



💭 So here’s your reminder today:

Be more like your pet.

👉 stretch when your body asks for it
👉 take a few slow breaths
👉 pause for a minute (the world will survive without you for 60 seconds 😅)
👉 give your body a reset before pushing forward

Because you don’t need to EARN rest…
and you definitely shouldn’t wait until you’re hurting to take care of yourself.

Your body doesn’t just “randomly” hurt…

• it builds over time

• recovery gets skipped
• and eventually… it speaks LOUDER

🧠 Quick Fixes (that actually help):

✅ move your body daily - 45 mins at least!!
✅ stretch longer than 5 seconds (yes, I said it 😂)
✅ hydrate - LOTS of water and add electrolytes too!
✅ get bodywork BEFORE it gets bad

You didn’t ‘just sleep wrong’… your body’s been building that pain for a while 👀

📚 I’ve been listening to the book Pain Free lately…

And one of the biggest takeaways?

👉 Most people focus on WHERE the pain is…
Instead of WHY it’s there.


• Lets take a little science dive:::

🧠 Micro vs Macro:

Micro approach:
👉 “My shoulder hurts… work on my shoulder.”

Macro approach:
👉 “What patterns caused the shoulder to hurt in the first place?”

Looking at the ‘big picture’ or in this case ‘the whole body’ because here’s the reality 👇

Most people don’t randomly throw their back out…
or wake up with neck pain “out of nowhere.”

👉 It’s repeated posture
👉 movement patterns
👉 daily muscular habits over time



🔍 What that looks like in my sessions:

When a client comes in with pain, we don’t just jump straight to the sore spot.

We look at:
✔️ posture
✔️ daily movement patterns
✔️ work habits
✔️ sleep positions

Then we combine:
✔️ targeted bodywork
✔️ fascia release
✔️ mobility + corrective movements



• Why this works:

Your body moves as a system.

When one area is restricted…
👉 other areas compensate
👉 tension builds
👉 pain shows up somewhere else

So if we only treat the symptom…
👉 it keeps coming back

This is why my sessions aren’t “cookie-cutter.”

👉 This is posture correction
👉 movement retraining
👉 and actually reducing pain long-term

Because the goal isn’t just to feel better for a day…

👉 it’s to move better for life.
