Thompson Team Tuesday – Meet Joan!

Although Joan has only been a part of the Thompson Team since 2024, it’s as though she’s been with us much longer. She was a natural fit to our team. With her friendly disposition and bright smile, she’s an absolute joy to work with. As a hostess, she has a special way with the families we serve, immediately making them feel at ease and welcome. Joan is a graduate of Springfield High School and still resides in Springfield today. She has been married to her husband, Lee for 15 years. Collectively, the couple has 5 children and 11 grandchildren. They also have two very spoiled fur babies, cats Jack and Lucy. Joan worked in banking for many years, prior to joining the Thompson Team. As a couple, she and Lee enjoy cooking together, and gathering with friends and family. Joan loves spending time on the water. During her downtime, some her favorite activities include boating, relaxing on the beach, and traveling-especially cruises. Joan is a blessing to her coworkers, the families we serve, and everyone she meets. Thank you, Joan for all that you do!

WELL, IT IS SHARK WEEK...
An inflatable shark tent came tumbling through the Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home parking lot in Hammond like it had somewhere very important to be!
No injuries—just a few startled employees, a very confused squirrel, and one majestic moment of airborne shark glory.
If you're missing a shark tent (or know someone who is), it's safe and sound with us.

Thompson Team Tuesday – Meet Ronnie!

Ronnie is an all-around great person! He’s been a valuable member of the Thompson Team since March of 2014. Ronnie doesn’t know the meaning of slowing down. He has retired from, not one, but two careers- with the Louisiana Teachers Retirement Office, and again with the U.S. Postal Service. He resides in Hammond, with his beloved wife of 58 years, Betty. The couple have one daughter and two grandsons, and their fur baby, a miniature yorkie, Oscar. They recently celebrated Betty’s birthday with a trip of a lifetime to Paris, France and London, England. Ronnie is a United States Army veteran and a member of the First Pentecostal Church of Hammond. He has a great sense of humor, and enjoys thrifting and reading in his spare time; in fact, he loves reading so much that he turned a room in his home into his personal library. Ronnie has lived a life of love and service. He is humble, hardworking and kind. He is a tremendous asset to the Thompson Team and our community!

Thompson Team Tuesday-Meet Martha!

Martha is a fourth-generation funeral director and the descendant of many strong, southern women, including her paternal great-grandmother, who began her family’s legacy in the funeral business in the 1940’s, when women undertakers were almost unheard of. Martha’s family is her pride and greatest joy. She and her husband, Brandon have four children, Lauren, Madison, Emily-Victoria “Tori”, and Brandon Jr.; two sons-in-law, D.J. and Tyler; three grandchildren, Adeline, Annie, and Henry, and another little one on the way. She’s a superfan of whatever sports her children and grandchildren are involved in at the time, with some of her favorites being basketball, baseball, dance, softball, and competitive bass fishing. Martha loves spending time on the water, whether it’s swimming, snorkeling, boating, fishing or just sunset watching. Some of her favorite pastimes include, entertaining, thrifting, and traveling. Being the daughter of a funeral director and a teacher, Martha has a unique passion for educating others about death care. As a certified event planner, much of her time at the funeral home is devoted to organizing special events and celebrations. She is excited about a big addition she and Brandon have in store for their business in the immediate future and is looking forward to seeing her family continue to grow!
