An ear infection happens when fluid gets trapped behind your child’s eardrum and becomes swollen or infected.
Most of the time, this starts after a cold, runny nose, or congestion. Even after the infection gets better, fluid can stay behind the eardrum for weeks, which may cause mild hearing changes. This is normal and usually clears on its own.

Fever lasting more than 48 hours
📞 Severe pain
📞 Trouble hearing
📞 Recurrent infections (3 in 6 months or 4 in a year)

😴 Unusual tiredness or low energy
🥤 Not drinking well or signs of dehydration
