It’s ! Texoma Medical Center proudly salutes the 257 nurses who have taken the extra step to master their specialty through the achievement of certification. To thank them for the important work they do in helping ensure strong patient outcomes and a positive patient experience, we held a dinner in their honor last week.

During the event, certified nurses JaNea Kelso, CCRN; Alexis Cannon, CMSRN, TNCC; and Michelle Heck, CCRN, spoke to their peers about their experience in achieving certification. There was also plenty of fun as 26 creatively themed baskets, put together by departments across our healthcare system, were raffled off to those in attendance.

And to brag a little more: of the 257 certified nurses at TMC, 49 nurses hold two certifications, eight nurses hold three certifications, and two nurses hold four certifications. This dedication to voluntarily expanding their specialized knowledge, skills and experience shows that TMC nurses are leaders in the future of healthcare!

Warmer weather and longer days are the perfect reasons to get out and enjoy more walks, gardening and a return to exercise routines that may have slowed down over the winter. But while this boost in activity is great for your overall health, it can put stress on your joints if your body isn’t ready for the change. Knees, hips, shoulders and ankles are especially vulnerable when activity levels increase too quickly. We're sharing some tips found here on our blog! https://bit.ly/4bKVzEm

Protect Your Joints - With these tips, you can protect your joints and enjoy everything spring has to offer without sidelining aches and injuries.

With the advancements in healthcare, career opportunities in radiology are growing! Meet Jordan Buchanan, BS, CNMT (NMTCB), ARRT N, a Nuclear Medicine Technologist. We asked her to share a little bit about her job, and here’s what she had to say:

“I always knew I wanted to work in the medical field and have the opportunity to help others. I was drawn to nuclear medicine because it allows me to contribute to both diagnosis and treatment—especially through theranostics, where imaging and therapy work together to help patients heal.”

And what did it take to get here?

“I completed a Bachelor of Science in Liberal and Applied Studies with an emphasis in Natural Sciences at Southeastern Oklahoma State University before attending the University of Oklahoma to earn my Bachelor of Medical Imaging and Radiation Sciences, specializing in Nuclear Medicine. My time as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist has strengthened my compassion for others and helped me become highly adaptable when supporting patients through vulnerable moments. The field requires strong attention to detail, flexibility, and the ability to support patients who may be anxious and facing life‑altering health situations.”

Now that you’ve been in this role, would you recommend this career path at TMC to others?

“I would, because it allows you to make a real difference in patients’ lives. You have the opportunity to work with advanced imaging technology while building connections with patients and contributing to both the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. Texoma Medical Center offers a friendly atmosphere filled with dedicated professionals who take pride in their work. The staff consistently go above and beyond to support one another and provide compassionate care, creating an environment where patients feel comfortable and well cared for.”

This week, the Action Station in the TMC Café has featured a special menu inspired by this year’s national theme, “Discover the Power of Nutrition.” Today’s menu included delicious Greek bowls. We invite you to join us for lunch and check out the menu for yourself.

In 2025, the accomplishments of our hospital teams were preeminent! As we look back, we can’t help but highlight two specific departments that made significant impacts on our patients, quality, and culture. We recently presented them with a special GOAT (Greatest of All Time) trophy that will be awarded annually. Let us tell you about our winners!

Clinical Winner – Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)
Our CVICU was top‑notch in the area of patient experience, maintaining the highest “Recommend the Hospital” scores within TMC during 2025. Their quality metrics and low turnover rates were exceptional, and nurses in the department were highly engaged in completing certifications and competencies. Join us in celebrating CVICU!

Non-Clinical Winner – Food & Nutrition Services (FNS)
Our FNS team implemented improvements last year that made a significant impact on our patient, physician, and retail services. Operational changes led to reduced tray delivery times, improved food quality, and increased patient satisfaction scores. TMC’s FNS was even recognized by our parent company for ranking at the top in retail sales. FNS is a large department, and we’re thrilled to showcase just a few of their incredible accomplishments.
