October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

It’s natural to be worried if you notice something in your breast that looks or feels different. The first place your thoughts may go is that it might be breast cancer, and that’s a valid concern. But thankfully, not every lump or pucker means you have cancer. Many breast changes are harmless, but since it’s hard to know what’s potentially problematic and what isn’t, it’s important to get anything unusual you see or feel checked out.

If you notice changes in your breasts of any kind, seeing a doctor is the right next step. You can get a professional opinion about what may be going on (instead of checking Dr. Google to try to figure it out on your own) and can get any tests that may be needed to confirm a diagnosis. This will give you peace of mind if it turns out to be nothing concerning. If it’s something serious, catching it early when treatment is usually most effective is the best thing you can do for your health.

Here are some breast conditions that may look or feel similar to breast cancer and are not cancerous:

Here are some non-cancerous reasons you may feel lumps or notice other breast changes.

Packing lunch can be a smart way to eat healthier and save money. But if that lunch isn’t stored the right way, it might not be safe to eat by the time lunchtime rolls around. Warm temperatures, moisture and even how you handle food before it goes into the bag can all raise the risk of foodborne illness.

Luckily, there are easy ways to prevent packed lunches from making you sick. Just follow these simple tips to help keep foods safe to eat, whether you’re bringing food to work or sending lunch to school with your child:

September is Pain Awareness Month.

Researchers are starting to look into some of the other health benefits GLP-1s may offer besides blood sugar and weight management, such as pain reduction. Although more research still needs to be done on the subject, early results suggest that the medications may reduce pain by lowering inflammation in the body. A reduction in weight and better-controlled blood sugar may also affect pain levels.

Here is some more information about each of these potential factors that may influence the amount of pain a person feels:

Some GLP-1 users say they experience less pain, but the exact reason why is not yet known.
