This is what the gamebird feed looks like. It is 17% protein like our feed is. Not as much corn. I haven't had my flock try this one yet.
I think this is as close to our feed as you are going to find.

Lefty's farm shack in Denton and Melvin's Hardware in Randleman. Fizz and Fuzz in Mt Gilead carry it. I think Country Farm and Home in Pittsboro also carries this feed. The prices are different from dealer to dealer too.

#2 Harmon Family Farms in Trinity carry a variety of feed from G&M Milling. Its mostly pellets so my flock turned their beaks up to this one. The ingredients aren't exactly the same as our feed but it isn't bad. **This is a cash only farm.** If you want to mix your own feed, you can buy the oats and wheat from here plus farm fresh meats. They have an online store for the meats. You can buy hay here as well. Open 6 days a week from 9-6

Let's talk about feed! Please read the whole post for important information. I have been looking to find some replacement options for everyone. Many feeds have corn in them. Corn is ok in the winter but not ok during the heat of summer. Corn makes the chickens hotter. I will have several posts. Not all options may be available in all areas. Remember that scratch is not feed. Scratch is usually all carbs. Chickens need a minimum of 15% protein and calcium to lay eggs.

You cannot go by the bag color since they use the same bags for different feeds. Please read the tags.

1. Carolina Pride all flock - 22% protein, you will need to add calcium since its all flock, there is a smaller amount of calcium than normal. This is corn based feed but so far its the only one my birds will eat. We feed this to our quail currently who require a higher protein content.

They also have a nice-looking grain-based gamebird feed that is 17% protein which is the same as our feed. Less corn in this one. We haven't tried this one yet but plan too. It also has whole corn but less than the all flock. This feed is made in NC by Coker Feed Mill. You go onto their website, put in your zip code and they will tell you where the closest dealer is.

For me - Lefty's farm shack in Denton and Melvin's Hardware in Randleman. Fizz and Fuzz in Mt Gilead carry it too. I think Country Farm and Home in Pittsboro also carries this feed. The prices are different from dealer to dealer too.

Its times like this when I wish we had a basement. He wasn't looking good at all but seems better now that he is inside. The dogs are happy to see him too.

Its going to be the hottest I've ever seen in NC all weekend. Its going to feel like 105!!!! That means your livestock will need extra help. Put fans on your rabbits! Freeze bottles of water for them to lay against. Make sure everyone has plenty of drinking water. Electrolytes in the water will be a big help. Give your turkeys a wading pool. Unfortunately, some animals may die. Especially your older animals. If you can bring it in, please do so!

After 3 years of delivering feed to you, we have decided to discontinue our feed business. This was not an easy decision to make. Our backs remind us that lifting 10,000 lbs. of feed each month is not in our best interest.

We will deliver in August and September, so you have 60 days left to buy our non-gmo feed. If we have any excess feed after September, you will be able to come to Denton to buy some if you wish. We also suggest mixing our old feed with whatever you use in the future to ensure a successful transition to the new feed. This also means that we will need new feed for our own flock. We have several suggestions that we will share as we get closer to September.

It has been a pleasure serving you. We have made a lot of new friends. We will continue selling honey and raising poultry.
Sincerely,
Buzzing G Farm

After much consideration, we have decided to close down our feed business. Our backs cannot handle lifting 10,000 lbs. of feed each month. We will still deliver during the months of August and September to allow time to find new feed. We are also looking for new feed for our flock. We can make suggestions in September if you need help. We will still have honey and poultry.

Thank you for your support for the last 3 years! We have made new friends and met some very nice people!

Sincerely,
Buzzing G Farm
