Meet Katie! She will be taking over 5:30 PM Nourish Gentle Flow on Sundays!

Here’s what Katie had to say:

Yoga has been a part of my life for years through following videos at home, but my true yoga journey began in January 2024 when I took my first class at Bloom. Living with an anxiety disorder, I often find myself caught in a cycle of racing thoughts, but yoga brings me back to the present, back into my body. Through slowing down, finding my breath, and observing—rather than judging—how I feel, I rediscover stability and calm, even in my most overwhelming moments. My goal as a teacher is to help my students find a similar sense of groundedness and connection within themselves. When I’m not on the mat, you can find me teaching high school English, reading, baking, or spending time with my pitbull-boxer mix, Samson.

Welcome, Capricorn Season and happy winter Solstice! Today, the Sun moves into the zodiac sign of Capricorn, signaling winter Solstice in the northern hemisphere. Solstice, which means “Sun stands still,” represents that point in the year when the Earth's north pole is tilted the farthest away from the sun, resulting in the shortest day and longest night of the year for those of us living in the Northern Hemisphere (and the longest day/shortest night for those in the Southern Hemisphere).

Capricorn Season is the perfect time to slow down, turn within, and reflect on the foundations of our lives. Capricorn invites us to be thoughtful, grounded, and focused. Initiating the Winter Solstice Capricorn encourages us to reflect on the past year: What has 2025 taught you? In what areas of your life have you grown? Capricorn inspires us to use these reflections and build for the future: What are you ready to release? What do you hope to cultivate in 2026? Capricorn, the mythical Sea-Goat, is steady, sturdy, and creative, offering both tenacity and inspiration. Capricorn brings focus and drive, encouraging us to work steadily towards our goals but to do so with imagination, gratitude, and joy. Capricorn asks us to ground ourselves and build strong, flexible foundations. Things to do during Capricorn season: Celebrate the return of the light. Ground yourself. Take a mindful walk. Drink lots of water. Reevaluate your budget and set a financial plan. Practice Yin yoga. Question authority. Make a yule log. Laugh. Reexamine your priorities and set new goals. Take a hike. Climb a mountain. Stretch yourself.

Yoga Poses for Capricorn: Tadasana (Mountain); Utthita Trikonasana (Extended Triangle); Supta Virasana (Reclined Hero/Saddle Pose); Reclined Crescent Moon (aka: bananasana in Yin)

Crystals for Capricorn: Onyx for mental focus, and self-trust. Smoky Quartz for grounding. Garnet for serenity, strength, and joy. Jet for protection. Shungite for purification.

Affirmations for Capricorn: I am grounded. I am connected to the earth. I honor my boundaries and those of others. I balance work with pleasure. I trust my inner wisdom. I follow my inner calling.
