Watch an episode of their favorite cartoon where the characters visit the doctor before their appointment! Seeing familiar characters go through a check-up can help make the experience feel more comfortable, predictable, and less intimidating. 💜

As parents and caregivers, it’s important to stay aware of dangerous social media trends that may impact our children’s health and safety.

Recently, Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth warned families about a resurgence of the so-called “Benadryl Challenge,” a harmful trend encouraging teens to misuse allergy medication in dangerous amounts. In the past six months alone, Cook Children’s reported more than 100 overdose-related ER visits and one death connected to Benadryl misuse.

Because Benadryl is an over-the-counter medication, it can seem harmless, but taking too much can lead to serious health complications including seizures, heart problems, hallucinations, breathing difficulties, and even death.

A few reminders for families:
💜 Store medications safely and out of reach
💚 Talk openly with children and teens about online trends
💜 Follow medication dosing instructions carefully
💚 Seek immediate medical help if you suspect an overdose
