First MTPJ (big toe joint) arthroplasty with total joint implant. This procedure is for severe and painful 1st MTPJ (big toe joint) arthritis. The arthritic joint is resected and is replaced with a silastic implant to eliminate bone on bone rubbing due to cartilage thinning and degeneration as well as increase and preservation of range of motion of the big toe.
*Correction on second video: angled bone cuts for the implants help to preserve the integrity of the flexor hallucis brevis tendon, not FDB tendon.
