When most people think about giving birth, they picture a hospital. Hospitals are amazing (we aren't knocking them) but people forget there are other atmospheres and ways to approach birth.

We are a natural birth center in Denver, Colorado. Our space is designed to feel calm, private, and supportive, more like a home than a hospital room, but still part of a licensed healthcare system.

Birth centers follow a wellness model of care.

That means pregnancy and birth are treated as normal, physiological experiences, not something that automatically needs intervention.

Care is centered around your choices, your instincts, your experience.

Birth centers are built on:
– safety
– prevention
– low intervention when possible
– and knowing when to step in when it’s needed

They care for healthy, low-risk pregnancies before, during, and after birth with a strong focus on family-centered support.

A birth plan is a starting point, not a test you pass or fail.

Sometimes birth asks for a pivot. What matters is that you understand what’s happening and you stay part of the decision.

If something is recommended, you can ask what they’re seeing, why it matters, and what your options are. If time allows, you can ask what happens if you wait and reassess.

Save this for later and share it with your support person.

In the days after giving birth, it’s not uncommon to feel like you’re on an emotional rollercoaster. Uncontrollable crying one minute, a sense of euphoria the next, followed by irritation or overwhelm that seems to come out of nowhere.

If that’s been your experience, you’re not alone. A lot of women (some studies say up to 80%) go through what’s often called the “baby blues.” It’s a real, hormonal, and emotional shift.

But there’s a difference between a temporary wave of emotions and something that feels like it’s not letting up.

Our latest blog deep dives into postpartum moods and emotions. Use the link in our comments to read on.

There’s a concept from Denmark called hygge (pronounced “hoo-gah”).
It can translate to a few things, but for us, it means creating an environment that feels calm and supportive.

Our midwifery care team keeps and baby safe, while also encouraging you to listen to your intuition and labor in the way your body leads you. If this sounds like the type of birth environment you're looking for, head to the link in our profile to book a tour.

Breastfeeding can be hard. Frequent feeds can be normal early on, but sharp pain, worsening damage, consistently too-few diapers, or a baby who is very hard to wake are signs you should seek support. We have a wonderful lactation consultation onsite at our birth center twice a month for our feeding group! Join us on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays for a 10 am feeding group, and Kristen can help answer your questions.

The sling is a fantastic tool for relieving pelvis pressure during birth. Save this one so you can come back to it before labor!

Motherhood doesn’t have a single definition.

It can look like birth, adoption, loss, longing, step-parenting, chosen family, or showing up for someone with your whole heart.

Today, we’re holding space for every version of motherhood, the ones who are in it, the ones who are becoming, and the ones who carry it in ways others may not always see.

You don’t have to fit a traditional mold to be worthy of being celebrated.

We see you, honor you, and are grateful for you. 🤍 Happy Mother's Day!
