I choose not to work with bodybuilders or physique competitors because disordered eating is the name of the game for these and that’s not my jam. The same goes with a six pack goal because I work with women and 95% of us can’t healthfully have an actual visible six pack. There are plenty of people (even dietitians) that work on these areas.

I believe in helping people reach their health goals with sustainable habits that can last a lifetime, and the way you eat for these competitions is definitely not meant to be forever!

I do work with clients that come to me with realistic body composition goals of gaining some muscle, and or losing some body fat but many find that their goal may change based on how much joy they want to have in their life 🙌🏻🩷

If we only have habits based on how they make us look, then we may not actually choose habits that benefit our health more, and it could lead to a bad relationship with food. I can do much more harm than a few “ vanity pounds” 😢

•I’ve been a registered dietitian for over 12 years, and personal trainer for over 17 years. I’m a weirdo that has known that I’ve wanted to run my own nutrition and training business since I was 17. (I’m 36 now 😉)

•I started my business, Fitness and Nutrition by Elise 9 years ago in LA and moved it to Denver 8 years ago ✈️

•I’m a CSSD certified specialist in sports dietetics and women’s health dietitian. I help my clients achieve their fitness and health goals while still enjoying food and finding their balance 💗😀🏋🏼‍♀️🏃🏻‍♀️💪🏻 🥑

•I’m from central Illinois and I’ve lived in Chicago, Park City, Los Angeles and now Denver (plus I was forced to live in Missouri for my dietetic internship ☹️😂)

Our bodies change throughout life and pregnancy is a major body changing event!

Of course it’s ok to have health goals and even weight loss goals. They just need to fit your new busy schedule and be realistic and healthy for you🩷

I’m not a fan of doing progress pics with clients. If you’re into them then go for it but keep some things in mind:

1. They’re not a valid form of progress bc they can change based on external factors such as lighting/posing, etc and not to mention normal internal factors such as hormonal bloating. ⚖️

2. Just like the scale, they don’t show the full picture of someone’s progress. Even if we like the way we look in a photo it doesn’t mean we are the healthiest at that point in time. Maybe we’re not our strongest or eating in a restrictive way 😢

3. How we feel about ourselves in a photo can change day to day. Example of myself in a pool in Vegas, sometimes I like this photo and sometimes I don’t 🤷🏼‍♀️

4. Not only are they not suore helpful, but they can actually lead to increased body dissatisfaction and lower self esteem 😢
