Wow!

1 year and 3 months without posting.
I am so sorry. How about a little life update?

Birth work has radically changed for me in the last year and a half. It was my intention to almost halt birth work while my husband started Seminary two years ago.
The Lord clearly had other plans.

I am currently mid-way through Phase 3 of NARM’s CPM program with the hopes to start Phase 4 by fall and sit for the NARM by next winter/spring.

Since May 2025 I have witnessed 78 sweet souls into this earth, including two sets of twins. I’m currently on the trajectory to becoming the third midwife in a high volume midwifery practice in Lancaster County.

Lord willing I would love to be able to certify through Montana’s LM licensure and be able to help midwifery practices while we’re in Montana. Very long term goal…but it’s still a goal of mine.

My husband is will be a third year MDiv student at Westminster this fall and Lord willing will graduate the following year and be able to start his PhD program soon after graduating.

Our eldest son is turning 14 this summer and our youngest will be 6 on Monday (so thought it appropriate to have him in my post). We have an 11 and almost 9 year old in between the as well!!

The Lord has definitely handed us a LOT more than we can handle and it’s taught us to lean on HIM more in this season of life.

Both sweet second babes who decided to come with the snow storm very quickly!

2024 was the year I started taking winters off. To reconnect and refuel, because if you’re in birth work, you know how exhausting it can be and burn out is among the highest in community birth workers.
I restricted my schedule almost to an extreme. 14 births a year is VERY low for me personally. I usually average 25-30.

It was a wild year regardless.
Most of my babies and mamas were repeat and it was so fun to watch their families grow!

2025 I will strictly be taking only repeat clients in order to better serve the community midwife population in assisting at local home births. My schedule will become extremely restricted starting June 2025 and I’m off March and April. I will make exceptions for new home birth moms 🤍

As always I’m so blessed to be able to part of each birth story and journey of these little ones mamas and dads.

Starting in March 2025 I will be slowly changing my schedule into more postpartum care and childbirth education classes. Due to my husband's rigorous seminary schedule I am feeling more of the call to step back from on call birth work while my husband finishes school. It breaks my heart to not be able to labor with mama's (sometimes for days), but during this season it is becoming a lot more clear as to where the Lord has us.
SEASON is the key word. I will continue to grow in my education with labor support, attending workshops and keep all of my certifications up to date, but I feel so blessed to be finishing out 2024 with 90% of my mama's as repeat clients.
