Long sappy gratitude post ahead 💕
Almost exactly five years ago, while I was certifying as a birth doula and diving deep into the pelvic health world, I told my husband I wanted to create a women’s health practice that embodied whole-person wellness. I didn’t yet know what it would look like, but I knew I wanted to build a space where women could receive the education, care, and trauma-informed support we all deserve across the lifespan. I was incredibly underwhelmed by my own healthcare experiences and was appalled by stories from clients and colleagues.
That November weekend, Ryan and I sat together and brainstormed names that reflected the values of what I wanted to create. We landed on OWN - an acronym for Optimal Wellness & Nourishment, and a word that captures exactly what we hope every woman feels when she walks through our doors: ownership, empowerment, and agency over her health.
Five years later, I look around at this cute little building in our neighborhood, filled with an incredible team of providers who are changing lives every single day, and I still can’t quite believe it. I’m living the dreams we whispered about in 2020. And it really feels like we’re only at the beginning.
OWN has some exciting changes and growth ahead this winter, and we can’t wait to reach even more families with truly life-changing care.
To our team, our clients, and our community near and far, thank you. Thank you for trusting us, supporting this family business, and cheering us on every step of the way.
And to Ryan, my other half behind the scenes, thank you for witnessing every inch of this journey, listening to every birth story, checking all my math, grounding me when I’m overwhelmed, and reminding me why this work matters. I couldn’t do any of this without you.
I’m living in a season of gratitude and so excited for the growth to come.
