Eating disorders are often overlooked in athletes, especially at the high school level. That’s why early intervention is so important and why we support recovery while helping teens stay on track with both academics and athletics.

With the expansion of our Athlete EDGE® program, high school athletes ages 13–17 now have access to a specialized team of therapists, dietitians, and mental performance specialists who understand both the demands of sport and the developmental needs of teens.

Together, we can help student-athletes build resilience, restore balance, and move toward a healthy future in and out of sport.

🏅 New Resource for Athletes & Eating Disorders 🏅

Athletes face unique pressures, from body image and performance expectations to recovery and nutrition. That’s why ANAD - National Association of Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders teamed up with Athlete EDGE at EDCare to create a brand-new, athlete-centered resource addressing essential questions on eating disorders in sport:

• What are the signs to watch for in yourself or a teammate?
• Where can athletes go for sport-specific help?
• How can coaches, trainers, and loved ones best offer support?

Our resource delivers clear guidance, easy-to-access support, and trusted information tailored to athletes and those who guide them.

Behind it? A compassionate, multidisciplinary team - from sports dietitians and therapists to medical experts and more - all dedicated to athlete health and healing.

We’re also honored to feature insights from Alice Merryweather, former Olympic Alpine Skier and Athlete EDGE at EDCare Ambassador. She bravely shares her journey through treatment and highlights why athlete-specific care matters and how it made a difference in her journey.

You’re not alone and recovery doesn’t have to come at the expense of your sport. Discover how personalized support can empower you to thrive as both an athlete and a human.

Eating disorders impact men, including athletes, more than many realize.

In sports like cycling, where weight and performance are closely linked, pressure to be lean can lead to disordered eating and overexercising. Because eating disorders are still seen as a "female issue," many men struggle in silence, often unaware they even need help.

This needs to change. Eating disorders don’t discriminate. Anyone, regardless of gender, can struggle and everyone deserves support. Early recognition, open conversation, and access to inclusive care are essential for recovery.
