Alright y'all - I'm feeling so much warmth about this upcoming event to embrace the magic of summer session which is a-knocking.

What better way to celebrate 3rd anniversary than thru this extra special event.

This will be the last quarterly event funded thru the Black Birthing Mental Health Initiative Grant. But don't fret - Uncle Mel, aka aka has secured funding to thru to carry the torch🔥 so we will be able to have six more events over the next year to continue communing.

This quarter our guest facilitator, .rose of will be sharing her intrinsic wisdom and some ember nuggets gleaned from the leadership program to ignite inspiration and burn off what it is time to let go of so we can step into our purpose with more energy.

As I reflect on the journey of alchemizing and stoking community to support the resiliency and collaboration of anti-racist birthworkers/providers and black birthing people - I feel hopeful, inspired and deep gratitude for this project.

Join us at Mel's on Friday, 6/6 at 630p for an evening of circling up around a summer fire glow, harmonizing our voices, and grounding our wombs with earth energy.

This is a free event with dinner provided.

Click on the events link in profile to RSVP and be added to the mailing list fot day-of deets.

That’s a wrap on the Doctoral Capstone Experience for Nora and Hannah! They have been working hard for the last 14 weeks on grant projects, creating educational resources, and developing pelvic floor knowledge/skills. They are looking forward to graduation in May and beginning their OT journey!

“This capstone experience has increased my knowledge of pelvic health while helping to shape me into a practitioner working towards embodied conscious and purposeful anti-racism work to provide the best care possible for my future patients.” - Nora

“Through this capstone experience I have been able to reflect on my professional identity and who I want to be as a practitioner. While developing new skills in pelvic health, I also had the space and resources to develop my understanding of holistic and just care.“ - Hannah

OT students! If you are interested in completing your capstone experience with Liberate Pelvic Health, applications will be opening soon. Keep an eye here and on the Liberate website for more information!

We hosted our first community luncheon last month as a part of the Black Birthing Mental Health Community Investment program. Thanks to Colorado Access for providing funding to support this important mission of fostering community for providers who identify as BIPOC and/or with Anti-Racist values who are resources to the Colorado Black birthing community. Also, thanks to The Den for hosting us, and for The Straker’s Kitchen for providing the catering.

Nora, Hannah, and I enjoyed connecting with everyone and presenting about pelvic health. I look forward to hosting these meet ups quarterly into next year in order to build a network of providers who specialize in eating disorders, mental health, primary care, maternal healthcare, and/or birthwork. The goal is for networking, resiliency building and information sharing through quarterly luncheons for providers working with Black birthing people, with emphasis on fostering relationships between Black providers and providers actively working to embody Anti-Rscist values. I cannot wait to see how these networking events grow! If you are interested in being on the mailing list for future events, please DM with your email address. Next event is coming up in May at the Town Hall in the Santa Fe art district. Thank you to everyone who came out and supported this event.

Hello from national OT conference. I took a red eye last night into Orlando to present my experience participating in the STRIDE research grant experience. Some wonderful conversations were had and I enjoyed learning about some of the other projects supported by this grant.

It’s been a busy month of learning! Spent two weekends training with and to learn cranial sacral and deepen my abdomen visceral skills. Craniosacral and visceral therapy are great methods for releasing congestion and improving function of the pelvic floor in a gentle and noninvasive manner. Releasing tension and restrictions within the pelvic bowl can help with pelvic pain, incontinence, constipation, sexual dysfunction, etc! Already getting some powerful results with my clients. Message if you have any questions or want to learn more!

HAPPY BLACK HISTORY MONTH! So excited about the happenings at Liberate Pelvic Health. No time like the present to share it! As many of you know, the idea for Liberate Pelvic Health came from a direct lived experience of the impact that racism currently has on black people participating in healthcare in this country. So very excited for the opportunity to get to address these matters that align and hit so close to home within my practice.
