Call for Survivors' Voices
The Brave Women's Community Center, www.bravewomenscommunity.com is proud to support the vital work being done by SafeHouse Denver, by launching an audio storytelling project to amplify the voices of survivors of domestic abuse. We believe in the power of shared experiences to foster healing for all.
Why Your Voice Matters: In sharing your journey from disempowerment to standing in your personal power, you are giving voice to the shared experiences of those who haven’t yet made their way out of abusive relationships. In doing so, you’re reaching a hand back to a past self who needed this support. It also provides people who have not yet entered an abusive relationship with tools that they need to navigate their way back to safety and sovereignty. Though every story is unique, there are threads that tie us together. Sharing your story helps to liberate others from the shame of their own experiences. No matter the level of abuse that you have faced, your voice matters.
Event Details: We are seeking 8 to 10 volunteers who are feeling the call to share their personal experiences as a survivor of domestic abuse/relationship violence, either anonymously or under their own names. These stories will be professionally recorded in a confidential setting and later shared at a Community Listening Event. The general public will be invited to this listening event and offered a talkback discussion afterward. This will provide an opportunity for reflection and communal healing, raising awareness about the signs of abuse and promoting understanding and empathy. We hope to raise needed funds at this event so that SafeHouse can continue its vital mission, creating a safer, more compassionate world for all.
How to Participate: If you are interested in contributing to this impactful project, please reach out by January 30th, 2025 to ensure your story is included. The listening event will take place in March, and further details will be provided to all participants. Interviews will be conducted by a licensed psychotherapist.
Contact Lucia Severtson at Lucia@bebravewomen.com to express your interest or to ask any questions you may have. Your voice can lead the way to greater awareness and healing.

🌸 Help Us Share Women's Voices 🌸
Hello everyone, I'm reaching out to share a project that means a lot to me — The Brave Voices of Womanhood, part of The Brave Women's Community Theatre. Our goal is to collect and share stories from women of all backgrounds to inspire and empower each other.
We need volunteers and ambassadors to help us expand our audio journal library. If you have a passion for storytelling, community support, or empowering women, we would love your help.
If you know any organizations or individuals who might be interested in helping, please let me know. Any introductions or suggestions to broaden our reach would be greatly appreciated.
Feel free to share this post with women and girls aged 13 and up. Every story added enriches our community and brings us closer together.
Interested in helping or want more information? Please reach out to Lucia @ info@bravewomenstheatre.com or DM me.

Incredible Day at Dunstan Middle School! ✨
I had the absolute honor of working with these amazing students in a one-day workshop where they created their own masks and explored the powerful concept of the social mask versus their authentic self.
The effort and creativity they put into designing their masks was incredible, but what was truly remarkable was the emotional depth they showed during our discussions. We talked about the masks we wear in life—how sometimes we hide who we really are in order to fit in, and how painful it can be to feel like we can’t be our true selves.
Hearing these students express their vulnerability and share their insights was such a gift. Many of them spoke about how much they want to be accepted for who they are, not for the masks they feel pressured to wear.
I am so grateful for the opportunity to lead this group through such meaningful work, and I’m incredibly proud of each and every one of them for their courage and honesty. 💖
Thank you, Dunstan Middle School, for opening the door to this important conversation, and for giving these students the space to explore and express themselves authentically. 🙏

What an extraordinary start to our Brave Audio Journaling Workshop series at The Brave Women’s Community Theatre!
As the clock neared 1 PM last Saturday, our hearts were heavy with anticipation. Would anyone show up? Then, one by one, Sarah, Kirsten, and Meredith walked through the door, their presence a comforting affirmation that it only takes a few to make a profound impact.
We had prepared for 15, arranging the room to be a cozy sanctuary with snacks and fresh coffee, hoping to welcome a crowd. But as the minutes ticked by, the reality of our three attendees set in. I'll admit, a wave of disappointment initially washed over me—the daunting quiet reminiscent of a party where no one shows up.
Yet, what unfolded with our three brave participants was nothing short of magical. It wasn't about the numbers; it was about the connection, the creativity, and the courage each woman brought into the space. We dove into our fears, laughed over our inner critics, and shared stories that resonated deeply, binding us in a way that felt almost spiritual.
By the end of the workshop, Claudia, my amazing board member, and I realized the perfection in the day's unexpected turnout. These were the women who needed to be there—the ones who needed this community the most, and perhaps, the ones we needed too to remind us why we started this journey.
We may not have had a crowd, but the richness of the experience couldn't have been greater. To Sarah, Kirsten, and Meredith, thank you for stepping into this journey with us and for helping to create a truly special afternoon. Your stories and spirits have not only touched my heart but have reignited my passion for this project.
Here’s to many more sessions where small numbers cast wide ripples. Sometimes, the smallest gatherings can bring about the deepest connections and the most meaningful change. 💖

What an incredible journey we embarked on during our Therapeutic Improv Workshop on October 5th! 🎭✨
We embraced the silly and the serious as we dove deep into the realms of fear and bravery. This amazing group of courageous individuals explored what it means to live authentically, pushing boundaries and challenging themselves to step out of their comfort zones.
Through laughter and profound discussions, we uncovered layers of bravery—both big and small—that reside within us all. It was inspiring to witness the powerful transformations and to move closer to love than fear.
I am continually inspired to provide a space that nurtures this kind of personal growth and community support. Thank you to everyone who joined and shared their unique light. Let’s keep the momentum going and continue to create spaces where women can learn, grow, and embody bravery every day.
Stay tuned for more updates and join us next time to experience the magic for yourself!
