Hi! I’m Dana, the face behind the smiling skeleton of Better Being Bodywork.
I’ve been studying anatomy and working with bodies for the last 8 years. I started in fitness, expanded to yoga, then included massage therapy. My primary goal as a bodyworker is removing restriction to restore function. The structural integrity of each bodily system contributes to its function. When our pieces align, they simply work better and hurt less. Using a variety of hands on techniques (myofascial, lymphatic, visceral manipulation, cupping, etc.) and drawing from my experience in biomechanics and human movement, I work to clear congestion, get things unstuck and restore balance to the body.
As my career in health and wellness progresses, I’ve become increasingly aware of the shortcomings of the modern American healthcare system--a system ruled by the clock and the dollar, that treats symptoms instead of causes, treats diseases instead of people and limits accessibility to the wealthy. Through my work as a healthcare provider and a small business owner, I aim to go against this grain by working with the individual for a full 60 or 90 minutes, considering the whole person in my treatments, focusing on the body-wide affects of the stresses and pains of life in a body, providing sliding scale pricing options, getting involved in the local community and offering a space of respite, relief and honesty.
Bodywork has far reaching affects. Collective healing requires individual healing, bodies included. To book your bodywork session and learn more about what I do, visit betterbeingbodywork.com (link in bio). Hope to hear from you soon!!
