Most people are told their thyroid is “normal” based on one number:

TSH.

But here’s the problem…

TSH doesn’t actually measure how well your thyroid hormones are working in your body.

It’s a signal from the brain.
It tells your thyroid how hard to work — but it doesn’t tell us what’s happening after that.

And that’s where things can get missed 👇

TSH doesn’t show how well T4 is converting into active T3
This conversion step is where many thyroid issues actually happen.

It doesn’t show how hormones are being used by your cells
You can have enough hormone in your blood… but still not be using it effectively.

It doesn’t reflect immune system activity
Conditions like Hashimoto’s can be present even when TSH looks “normal.”

So you can have:
“Normal” TSH
And still feel exhausted
Struggle with brain fog
Notice hair thinning
Gain weight without explanation

Because thyroid health isn’t just one number.

It’s a system, involving production, conversion, transport, and cellular response.

And if you’re only looking at TSH, you’re only seeing a small piece of that system.

If you want to know what a full thyroid panel should actually include, comment TEST and I’ll send it to you 💜

If you’ve been collecting thyroid symptoms for years and still don’t have a real answer — this is worth paying attention to.

Fatigue. Hair loss. Weight that won’t budge. Brain fog. Cold hands. Constipation. A metabolism that feels completely broken.

These aren’t random.

They’re not just stress. They’re not just aging. And they’re not something you have to keep pushing through.

They’re a pattern. And patterns have causes.

The most commonly missed cause in women over 40?

The thyroid.

Not because your doctor hasn’t tested it — but because the standard test doesn’t show the full picture. A TSH that comes back “normal” doesn’t tell you how your body is converting thyroid hormone, whether or not it’s being allowed to enter the cell, or whether it’s even being allowed to stimulate your DNA.

That’s the piece that gets missed.

And it’s often the piece that explains everything.

If you recognized yourself in 3 or more of those symptoms, I made something for you.

Comment QUIZ below and I’ll send you my Low Thyroid Weight Loss Quiz, a free and quick assessment that helps you see exactly how your thyroid may be affecting your weight, your energy, and your metabolism 👇

Part 2 of things I’d never do as a thyroid expert.

And before anyone says it, none of these are about being perfect.

They’re about understanding how these habits affect your thyroid, your blood sugar, and your metabolism specifically.

Because what’s “fine” for a healthy metabolism can be actively working against you when your thyroid is involved.

1. Coffee on an empty stomach. Spikes cortisol first thing in the morning. For women with thyroid and adrenal issues, this starts a stress cascade before the day even begins.

2. Skip breakfast. Your thyroid hormones are working hardest in the morning. Skipping breakfast drives blood sugar dysregulation and puts more stress on an already taxed system.

3. Fasted workouts. Exercise is a stressor. Without fuel, you’re adding physical stress on top of a nervous system that’s likely already running on empty.

4. Snack instead of eating real meals. When you snack and graze your digestive system never gets a break and this can disrupt normal blood sugar balance Stable blood sugar is one of the most important foundations for thyroid function and hormone balance.

5. A salad for lunch. Not enough protein. Not enough fat. Not enough calories to support a thyroid that’s already struggling to keep your metabolism running.

These aren’t random rules.

They’re patterns I’ve seen play out across thousands of patients over 25 years.

The women who started addressing these basics were often the ones who finally started to feel a shift.

Is it PMS or is it imbalanced blood sugar? 🧐

Insulin resistance is a metabolic condition characterized by reduced sensitivity of the body's cells to insulin, a hormone crucial for regulating blood sugar levels.

As a result, the pancreas compensates by producing higher levels of insulin to maintain normal blood sugar levels. This excess insulin in the bloodstream can lead to various health complications over time. This condition is often associated with metabolic disorders such as:

🙅‍♀️ Type 2 diabetes
🙅‍♀️ Obesity
🙅‍♀️ And polycystic o***y syndrome (PCOS).

During the luteal phase of the menstrual cycle, which occurs after ovulation and before menstruation, hormonal changes can affect insulin sensitivity in women.

👉 One key hormone involved is progesterone, which rises significantly during the luteal phase. Progesterone has been shown to impair insulin sensitivity, leading to a temporary increase in insulin resistance during this phase of the menstrual cycle.

👉 The exact mechanisms underlying the relationship between progesterone and insulin resistance are not fully understood, but research suggests that progesterone may interfere with insulin signaling pathways in peripheral tissues such as muscle and fat cells.

👉 As insulin resistance increases during the luteal phase, it can lead to higher blood sugar levels, especially after meals containing carbohydrates. High blood sugar levels can trigger inflammation and oxidative stress, which may contribute to the development or worsening of PMS symptoms.

Here are some tips to support blood sugar balance during this phase:

💟 Incorporate protein-rich foods into your meals and snacks to help stabilize blood sugar levels.
💟 Alongside protein, include healthy fats in your diet to slow down the absorption of carbohydrates.
💟 Eliminate your consumption of caffeine and alcohol, as they will affect blood sugar regulation.
💟 Drink plenty of water throughout the day to stay hydrated and support overall metabolic function. 💟 Practice stress-reducing techniques such as meditation, deep breathing exercises, or yoga.
💟 Aim for 7-9 hours of uninterrupted sleep per night.

Which of these tips will you focus on doing this week?
