The last 9 months have been the craziest time of my life, but also the most beautiful ✨💙⁣

Healing from birth trauma, dealing with PPA/PPD, meeting the ever changing needs of my tiny human, prioritizing my marriage, maintaining time for myself… it’s been a whirlwind! ⁣

But here I am, celebrating nourishing my baby boy on our breastfeeding journey for over 9 months now. Breastfeeding is one of the most difficult yet rewarding things I’ve ever done. The bond my son and I have is beyond this earth. I love you baby boy 🥹

Hi 👋🏻 Introduction time!⁣

I’m Patience 😊 ⁣

I am 27, living in Colorado with my wonderful husband and our beautiful 6 month old son 💙⁣

For the last 5 years I’ve been on a journey to heal my mind, body and soul. And what a JOURNEY it has been! I’ve learned and grown and healed and found pieces of myself I never even knew I had lost. ⁣

I’ve healed myself from Fibromyalgia! I’ve built a massive toolbox filled with resources that I use on a daily basis. I’ve built a life that I used to dream about and it amazes me every day. ⁣

I’m still learning, still healing, and still growing. I always will be, because healing is a never ending non-linear journey. Now my son, Elias, is a daily reminder of why prioritizing our health is so necessary. Motherhood has brought me deeper into this healing journey than I have ever been and I’m so excited to share more with you all 🥰⁣

I believe that the purpose of meditation is to go within, and connect to source.⁣

I do not think that you need to “shut your mind off” in order to meditate successfully.⁣

So here’s what I do… ⁣

✨ I honor the thoughts that are coming up. ⁣

✨ I let them glide into my mind and then I visualize them being crumpled up like a piece of paper so that I can toss them out.⁣

𝗦𝘄𝗶𝗽𝗲 👈🏻 𝘁𝗼 𝗳𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗴𝗲!⁣

Our refill after this weeks produce shop 🥕🫑. Produce is only good for 1-2 weeks and when eating a whole food plant based diet it makes up the bulk of your meals, so we shop regularly to refill (every 1-2 weeks). ⁣We are also slowly switching plastic containers to glass, the more toxins we can leave behind the better!

I’ve tried ALL the things to heal from chronic pain. Seriously, all of them. ⁣

Meditation. Exercise. Plant based eating. Energy work. Acupuncture. Massage therapy. Homeopathy. Physical therapy. Pharmaceuticals. You name it. ⁣

Nothing worked until I addressed the disconnect between my body and my spirit. I adopted a holistic lifestyle overall, nourished my body and soul with the best foods and then I started to see change. ⁣

Healing from chronic pain is not going to happen overnight or with a magic pill. It takes time and consistency. If you don’t care for your physical body with the right nutrients you won’t be able to create a safe place for your soul to heal. ⁣

Food is the physical energy that we fuel our bodies with 🍊🥒🍓🥕🍌⁣

When eating a whole food plant based diet you are giving your body necessary vitamins, minerals and immunity. ⁣

By nourishing your physical body you are creating a safe space to live presently and heal your soul. When you feel safe in your own body you can begin to heal from chronic pain and fatigue. ⁣

In order to learn new, healthy habits we must UNlearn the unhealthy ones we currently live with. We cannot unlearn habits cold turkey, and we can’t magically develop good ones overnight. ⁣

We also need to have a trusting relationship with our bodies to go through these transformations. Try this to build trust with yourself while also implementing a positive habit - pick one small thing you’d like to do for yourself daily and make yourself a promise that you’ll continue it. Keep it small at first, like a morning affirmation, “I am enough”. Write it on a post it and put it somewhere you’ll see every day. Then see how you feel after one week, two weeks even, and build on it! A hundred small changes add up!⁣

My unmedicated birth center birth turned into a hospital transfer and ended in a gentle c-section 🥺⁣

I went into labor at 40+3 with contractions picking up at 2am. I was able to labor at home in the bath tub until 6am when they had become regular and quite intense. So my husband called my mom to come & the midwife to meet us at the birth center. ⁣

We arrived just after 7am and after checking me I was 90% effaced, 4cm dilated and my water had broken (being in the tub at home I had no idea it had broken but there was definitely an intense transition in my contractions which I assume is when it happened). So it was time to get to work on progressing. ⁣

I got in the shower, the tub, used the peanut ball in the bed, leaned over the CUB, did side lunges on the wall ladder, side lying release, some miles circuit and listened to my hypnobirthing rainbow relaxation track. Between 10pm and midnight I was checked and had progressed to 8cm, I was so excited that I was so close to meeting my baby. Contractions were getting even more intense because baby had dropped really low and my body wanted to push, but I wasn’t open enough and did end up with some cervical swelling. ⁣

By 3am I was still at 8cm and made the decision with my husband to transfer for an epidural. At this point I hadn’t slept in 26 hours and was beyond exhausted from laboring all that time. I was able to nap at the hospital before it was time to push and I was so ready when the time came!! ⁣

After pushing for 3 hours we discovered that baby was ROT and was coming down my pelvis sideways. He was not rotating as he should no matter what we tried, however he was very stable so there was no need for an emergency. So they prepped us for the OR and not even an hour later we got to meet our son! ⁣

I am still working to process it all, but thanks to a wonderful support system and my beautiful baby I am doing well. I just want to say it’s okay to not be okay after your birth even if you came out with a perfectly healthy baby. And if that was your experience I am sending you so much love! What we’ve built together is magical. I am not afraid of the future because together we can face anything that comes our way and come out stronger on the other side 🏔. ⁣

Healing myself from chronic pain and fatigue opened up a life I never thought possible for myself. I am grateful for every day 🙏🏻. Our baby boy will be here with us so soon 🥰⁣

🧠 World Mental Health Day ❤️‍🩹 ⁣

I’m exhausted today. My mind is in a million different places, and my body feels foreign. ⁣

I slept as late as I could before work, did a calming meditation and took my dogs for a walk. ⁣

I had tea instead of coffee, because coffee just isn’t sitting well with my stomach lately and being jittery would not have helped today. ⁣

I’ve eaten fruit 🍌 and tried calming breath all day so far. It’s an interesting day to feel like I’m struggling a bit. ⁣

I go on maternity leave in 13 days and physically I’m beyond ready. At the same time everything is getting so real and life is changing right before my eyes. ⁣

So tonight I plan to take a warm bath and spend some time with my husband and my dogs. Today I am just surrendering into whatever feels good, and I’m here to tell you that it’s okay if you’re doing the same thing. ⁣
