🎄✨ Adopt a Child Holiday Party – Spreading Joy for 25+ Years! ✨🎄

For more than 25 years, our incredible colleagues have embraced the spirit of giving through our Adopt a Child program, supporting children in need at Denver Public Schools. Each year, we “adopt” students and make sure they have gifts to open on Christmas Day.

This week, we celebrated with a magical holiday party where the kids met Mr. & Mrs. Claus and their elves, decorated cookies, and enjoyed a cozy hot chocolate bar. The smiles said it all!

To date, our team has supported more than 2,500 students—a true testament to how We Show Up for our community.

A huge THANK YOU to the volunteers who organized this amazing event and the Disney Pin Crew who made the season brighter for so many families. ❤️

🎁 Annual “Ruck for a Claus” Brings Holiday Cheer to HCA HealthONE Rocky Mountain Children’s! 🎁

Nearly 100 participants joined the Travis Manion Foundation's annual “Ruck for a Claus," carrying toys on a 1.5-mile ruck from the Colorado Veteran’s Monument to our hospital. The Travis Manion Foundation not only organizes this incredible event but also runs a youth mentorship program, helping to inspire character and leadership in the next generation.

This generous donation will bring smiles to the faces of our pediatric patients during the holidays and throughout the year. Your kindness and commitment to our community make a lasting impact!

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who made this possible, including:

A Happy Holiday Starts with Safety.

In 2023, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) reported 10 deaths and an estimated 154,700 emergency department-treated injuries associated with toys for children 12 years and younger. December is National Safe Toys and Gifts Month, and HCA HealthONE Rocky Mountain Childrne's wants to share essential tips to protect the young ones in your life.

Key Toy Safety Tips:
Check Labels: Always look at labels for age and safety recommendations.

Mind Small Parts: For children under 4, avoid toys with small parts which can be a choking hazard. A toilet paper roll can be used to determine if a toy is too small.

Avoid Hazards: Avoid button batteries and magnets. Children can swallow these items, which can cause serious injury.

Gear Up: Always include protective gear when gifting bikes, skates, scooters, and other riding toys.

Stay Informed: Stay aware of toy recalls through the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

If your child has an incident with a toy that requires medical attention, visit our pediatric-dedicated Emergency Department at HCA HealthONE Rocky Mountain Children's. Expert care, 24/7. Learn more and get directions: https://bit.ly/447ll1y

At HCA HealthONE Rocky Mountain Children's, pediatric surgery isn't just what we do - it's where we lead.

Led by William E. Ladd Medal recipient Dr. Steven Rothenberg, our team pioneered many of the minimally invasive techniques now used around the world. This week, he was able to share a hands-on view with our Community Advisory Council. We built the world's first MIS operating suite designed specifically for children and we're advancing care with a pediatric surgical robot-the first of its kind in use in the U.S.

We also lead the world in performing the most:
✅ Laparoscopic Nissen fundoplications in infants and children
✅ Neonatal minimally invasive surgeries
✅ Thoracic lung resections in infants and children

These innovations mean smaller incisions, less pain and faster recovery for our patients.

And a special thank‑you to our Community Advisory Council for their support!

This Prematurity Awareness Month, we’re celebrating our tiniest patients and the incredible caregivers at HCA HealthONE who support them and their families. As a proud partner of March of Dimes, HCA Healthcare is committed to improving maternal and neonatal outcomes through clinical data, pioneering research and compassionate care.

Each year, more than 200,000 babies are born in hospitals across our larger HCA Healthcare network – and some arrive earlier than expected. According to March of Dimes, about 1 in 10 babies in the U.S. are born prematurely. This means they enter the world before 37 weeks of pregnancy.

We headed to HCA HealthONE Rose, but the medical team didn’t find a definitive reason for the baby’s distress. My OB/GYN also had a gut feeling about the situation and soon, the team decided I would deliver the baby via C-section.

Halloween is extra special in our NICU this year!

Our tiniest patients – the NICU babies – are all dressed up in adorable handmade costumes, thanks to our amazing NICU nurse, Erin. From tiny pumpkins to cuddly little ghosts, she’s lovingly crafted each outfit to help families celebrate this spooky season with joy and heart.
