My invitation to you… start with someone you know and trust.

Take a moment of pause when you are engaging with someone and make and effort to see them. 

Take in the expressions of their face, notice their posture or way they carry or hold themselves.

Do they seem tired? Distracted? Excited? Stressed? Afraid? Filled with joy? 

Can you take them in with love in your heart? 

Can you look them in the eyes and see them for just a moment? 

Can you look back with appreciation for being with this other human being on this earth in this very moment?

Hey therapists! 👋Would you like to feel more confident in working with individuals with ADHD??

We aren’t taught how to work with ADHD in school. We may have classes in assessment and testing and learn generalized techniques to help people with ADHD.

And guess what?!? That’s not enough.

Many generalized approaches apply to some sometimes and not all most times.

What does that mean?

We need to do better as a mental health field in supporting our clients, colleagues, and loved ones with ADHD. (We need to better in supporting others in general…and that’s another post).

What does “Out of the Office” mean to you?

How do you spend your time away from your office (virtual or in-person) that feels restful?

Does it include doing no work? Some work? Why or why not?

Are you able to rest?

What do you need to stay energized in your work?

What is the energy you hold about the idea of being “out of the office”? Do you notice a guardedness or defensiveness? A feeling of guilt? A f*ck yeah, let’s go!? An omg, I don’t know how to do this?

Where do your ideas of what “out of the office” should look or feel like come from?

These are some of the questions worth reflecting on to help you gage your energy.

Having a knowing of your energy and what you need can help you sustain doing this work you chose to do. 🖤

Are you aware of what gives you energy and what takes energy from you?

This is one of the many topics for reflection in my Development of the Therapist Consultation Group.

Understanding your energy is a great way to make better informed decisions about:

- What work you do
- What types of clients you work with
- How much you invest in learning
- When supervision or consultation is needed
- Who you spend your time with outside of work
- What you do to tend to your energy needs
- Who you go to for support
- What truly moves you

When’s the last time you sat with your reason for becoming a therapist?

Becoming clear on your *why* you became and are a therapist is a first step in diving deeper into becoming a more reflective and effective therapist.

For those who have been in the field for a while, has your why changed?

This is the first question we start with in my 6-month Development of the Therapist Consultation Group starting Tuesday, April 16, 2024.

If you are looking for a consultation group that includes, and goes beyond clinical consultation, this may be a group for you.

In addition to clinical consultation, each month, we will dive into reflecting therapeutic themes and how they show up in your relationships (personal, professional, clinical, and with SELF)

Themes include: values, attachment style, parts work, emotions as energy, mindfulness and self-awareness.

Group Dates: 4/16, 5/21, 6/18, 7/16, 8/20, 9/24
Group Time: 9:30 - 11:00 am MST
Group Cost: $90/group - commitment for this closed group is all 6 meetings

Let the week of fun begin!

In January 2022 I began my journey in learning about different psychedelic assisted therapies - ketamine, psilocybin, & M**A.

My initial reason for starting this journey was to be able to provide clients more access to their inner healer in hopes of helping them through their trauma, depression, hopelessness, anxieties and and and.

AND, I did not even think about how this journey would forever change my life.

Whatever you call it, it is real and impacts us as we sit with other’s trauma.

A therapists, we support our clients as they feel and release big emotions.

We work with them to help resource themselves internally and in their community.

We sit with them as they (and we) experience disappointments, frustrations, sadness, hopelessness, helplessness and more.

As we know, our body keeps the score… and it keeps the score of these experiences we share with our clients.

Our bodies are often the first indicators we may be experience a vicarious trauma response.

👉Tension in my jaw
👉Cold shivers
👉Crying
👉Fatigue
👉Agitation
👉Restless sleep
