Summer is the season of play, and at Soar, we know play is often the most powerful tool for progress.

As the weather warms up, many families ask how we keep clinical progress moving forward without table-top schoolwork. The answer lies in our ESDM approach to ABA therapy.

While some models use play as a reward for finishing a task, we believe play is the classroom. Our clinicians follow your child’s lead (whether they’re obsessed with bubbles , sand, or tag) and intentionally design learning activities around those interests in real-time.

By using natural reinforcement (the joy of the game itself!), we ensure the skills your child builds this summer, like communication and social connection, are meaningful, functional, and built to last.

Therapy doesn't have to feel like work. Reach out to learn more about our approach to autism care for young children!

Whether you’re heading to a family BBQ or a weekend getaway, Memorial Day parties and travel can be a lot to navigate. Our clinical team suggests three ways to prep for a smoother experience:

1️⃣ Practice the specific steps of your journey now (like a quick stop at a gas station for a favorite snack or a short practice drive) to help make the real trip feel like a known routine.
2️⃣ Use Social Stories: Create a brief story with simple pictures to explain who you will see and what will happen. This helps reduce the newness of the transition.
3️⃣ Maintain Anchors: Travel often means new daily routines, but keeping familiar safe snacks and consistent bedtimes can act as a regulatory anchor during a busy weekend.

Is your routine about to change?

For many families, the shift from the structured school year to the unscripted days of summer can be a challenging transition. It’s often during these shifts in routine that parents start looking for more clarity on their child’s development and support needs.

If you’ve been considering an autism evaluation, late spring is an ideal time to start the process. At Soar, we provide comprehensive diagnostic evaluations that go beyond just a label - we focus on providing a clear roadmap for your child's next steps, so you can head into the new season with a plan in place.

Happy SLP Appreciation Day! Today, we’re celebrating the incredible clinicians who lead our communication efforts with a focus on child autonomy and independence.

Traditional models often focus heavily on "manding" (requesting), which can limit a child’s communication to just getting their needs met. Our team takes a different approach. We believe in neurodiversity-affirming care that prioritizes a child’s right to protest, comment, and share their perspective. Whether it’s through words, signs, or devices, we model all types of communication to ensure our kiddos have the agency to navigate the world on their own terms. We don’t just want them to ask - we want them to be heard.

Data with a heart: What +60 skills actually looks like at home.

We track progress meticulously at Soar, but we know that for a parent, the most important metrics aren't on a chart - they’re in the daily moments of independence.

Across our centers, we see an average of 60 new skills gained every 6 months on the ESDM Curriculum Checklist. But what does that mean in real life?

It means a child moving from needing full help at mealtime to self-feeding with a spoon. It means the foundational steps of toileting independence, or a child learning to put on their own coat to go outside. These daily living skills are the building blocks of autonomy, and they are exactly what we’re measuring, teaching, and celebrating every single day.

To the moms who lead with heart and advocacy every single day: We see you.

Motherhood is a journey of celebrating every win, no matter the size. For the moms in our Soar community, those wins represent months of dedication, patience, and fierce love.

Today, we aren’t just celebrating the progress your children are making - we’re celebrating your resilience and the foundational role you play as your child's first teacher and lifelong advocate. Happy Mother’s Day to the incredible women in our community.

What happens when your child’s Speech Therapist and ABA Therapist actually talk to each other?

Most families are forced to be the middleman, shuttling between different clinics and trying to coordinate advice from four or five different specialists who have never met.

At Soar, we’ve removed that burden. Because our SLPs, OTs, and BCBAs share a desk and a mission, they collaborate daily to refine your child’s care in real-time. This isn't just about saving you a trip across town; it's about a unified team ensuring that a breakthrough in Speech is immediately reinforced in ABA.

Integrated care means higher-quality support, more consistent progress, and a single, dedicated team focused on the whole picture.

Neurodivergent children often navigate a world that wasn't built for their sensory or emotional needs, which can lead to unique challenges with anxiety, overwhelm, and big feelings.

At Soar, we believe emotional well-being is the starting point for all progress. Our neurodiversity-affirming approach centers on dignity - ensuring your child feels regulated, respected, and empowered to lead their own journey. Beyond our therapy sessions, we also offer medical support to ensure families have access to resources for sleep, anxiety, or other co-occurring needs.
