Sometimes we meet folks who have challenges we can’t see. That’s why the Blue Envelope Program through our partners with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is so important.

Recently, we worked with the folks at the Wheat Ridge Regional Center to get them Blue Envelopes and identifying items for the more than 70 adults with intellectual and development disabilities they serve.

The Blue Envelope program helps our officers understand neurodivergent nuances from anxiety to autism when we meet someone out in the community or during a traffic stop. The envelope explains the details of that person’s condition and lists contacts to get in touch with to help bridge potential communication gaps.

We can create better outcomes when we have a deeper understanding of the people we are communicating with. You can learn more about the Blue Envelope program here: https://tinyurl.com/3fyf2tc5
