A lot of you reached out after my last post…

and I want you to hear this clearly:

You’re not doing anything wrong.

If your body feels stuck…
if you’re tired of trying everything
and nothing is fully working…

that’s not a failure.

That’s your body protecting you.

Because when your nervous system has been in survival mode for a long time…

it doesn’t just switch off.

Even when life looks “fine” on the outside.

So you might catch yourself thinking:

“Why do I still feel this way?”
“Why can’t I relax?”
“Why isn’t my body responding?”

It’s not because you’re broken.

It’s because your body hasn’t learned that it’s safe yet.

And that doesn’t happen overnight.

It happens slowly.

Gently.

In small moments where your body starts to realize…

👉 it doesn’t have to stay on guard
👉 it doesn’t have to hold everything anymore

What I went through…
might not look exactly like what you’re experiencing.

But the root?

It’s often the same.

A nervous system that doesn’t feel safe.

And it doesn’t always show up as something extreme.

Sometimes it looks like:

• constant fatigue no matter how much you rest
• bloating or gut issues that won’t go away
• hormone imbalances
• anxiety or feeling on edge for no reason
• headaches, neck, and shoulder tension
• trouble sleeping or waking up exhausted

You go to fix it.

You try to eat better.
Take supplements.
Do all the “right” things.

…but your body still isn’t responding.

Because healing doesn’t start with what you’re doing.

It starts with what your body feels.

If your body is stuck in survival mode…

it will resist healing.

Not because it’s broken, but because it’s trying to protect you.

This is the part most people miss.

And it’s the reason so many people stay stuck
even when they’re trying so hard to get better.

When we support the nervous system first…

everything else starts to shift.

When I talk about unhealed trauma and a dysregulated nervous system…
I’m not just speaking from something I learned in school.

I lived it.

In 2011, I thought I was going to die.

My blood pressure was averaging 53/35.
My heart rate dropped to 35.
I was blacking out.
My blood sugar was crashing.

And no one had answers yet.

Eventually, I was diagnosed with Graves’ disease, an autoimmune condition often triggered by acute stress and trauma.

But that diagnosis?

That was just the beginning.

Because what I didn’t understand at the time was this:

My body wasn’t broken.

It was responding to years of stored trauma, all the way back to a 6-year-old little girl
who never felt safe.

That trauma didn’t just stay in my mind.

It lived in my body.

👉 in the constant tension
👉 in the headaches
👉 in my neck and shoulders always pulled tight
👉 in the need to be perfect
👉 to please everyone
👉 to stay small… and afraid to speak

That’s what a dysregulated nervous system looks like.

And healing didn’t come from forcing my body.

It came from:
👉 slowing down
👉 creating safety
👉 sitting with what I had been avoiding
👉 and finally allowing my body to let go

Today…

I’ve been in remission for over 10 years.

And I no longer live in that constant state of tension and survival.

This is why I do what I do.

Because I know what it feels like to live in a body that feels like it’s failing you…

…and I know what it takes to come back from that.

Nothing like starting the morning purging (crying) as I write this post…

This Saturday is something really special.

My very first book signing.

And I’ve been sitting with what I want to say… because this isn’t just a book to me.

This is my life.
This is pieces of my story.
This is the healing I had to fight for, and the healing I still continue to walk through.

The Woman Who Remembers wasn’t written from theory.
It was written from experience.

From the moments where I didn’t feel safe…
From the moments my body held onto things I didn’t even have words for yet…
From the long journey of learning that healing doesn’t start with forcing change, It starts with helping the body feel safe again.

Because when the nervous system doesn’t feel safe,
nothing else fully works the way it should.

That’s where we begin.
And from there… everything can start to shift.

This event is more than a signing.
It’s a moment of connection, of sharing, of remembering that none of us are alone in this.

We’ll also have Triumph Over Trauma shirts available, and a portion of all proceeds from this event will go toward supporting domestic violence.

Because this isn’t just about my story, it’s about creating space for others to heal too.

and then wondering why it still doesn’t feel like peace.

That’s not a personality flaw.
That’s a nervous system pattern.

I wrote The Peace You’re Looking For because I was tired of watching people blame themselves for something their body learned in survival.
