😡 We are angry-Please Read and Share this so everyone that you care about in Iowa sees it 😡
Picture this, this pharmacy benefit manager (PBM) is running ads in your area just letting everyone know not to worry if they close your local pharmacy down (independent or chain-this is a pharmacy problem). They have a mail order option (that they own and pay more) which will take multiple days or weeks to get to you. Your doctor may have prescribed the medication today but you'll be fine a couple more days... hopefully. They aren't worried about you though because they don't know you, they know numbers and the most important number in their eyes is profit. The Iowa Legislature has a chance to reform PBMs and ensure that PATIENTS have the freedom to decide where they obtain their medications and that pharmacies are paid a fair rate. The data says insurance premiums in states that have PBM reform in place actually increase at a lower rate than in Iowa (West Virginia for example). I'm so tired of watching my fellow pharmacy owners and pharmacy managers worry if their community will be without a pharmacy at this time next year if something isn't done now. That's the deal though, they actually care about the patients and the communities they live in so they worry constantly, cut staff, cut pay, work 65 hours a week. This is real and while we are very fortunate to be in the position we are at Wells Hometown Drug, other good men and women in pharmacy across the state are on the brink of closure leading to pharmacy deserts, your family not having access to a pharmacist they know and trust, their meds being stored in unsafe conditions, your elderly relative headed to a facility because their local pharmacy that went the extra mile is gone. It's not bad business that is leading pharmacies to close, it's a rigged system that needs reformed NOW. If you feel strongly please fill out the link below to send a message to your legislators. I want to thank you all personally for reading this and giving a darn about the future of pharmacy in our state-Mylo.
