✨Did you know EMDR can help your brain work through memories, in a way that’s similar to how it organizes experiences during sleep?

Remembering painful experiences can feel heavy, and it’s normal to wonder how EMDR actually works.

In an EMDR reprocessing session, you focus on a memory while noticing whatever comes up: thoughts, feelings, or physical sensations. Gentle techniques, like eye movements or bilateral tapping help to ease some of that weight and deepen the trauma reprocessing.

EMDR isn’t about erasing what happened. It’s about helping your mind and body carry it, in a way that feels lighter and safer.

Over time, it can help to shift old beliefs that no longer serve you, and create space for clarity, calm, and trust.

Healing doesn’t happen all at once. Every session is a step, and each step matters.

In this FAQ, we explore what OCD really is, how it shows up in daily life, and how to spot it in yourself or a loved one.

From intrusive thoughts to rituals like checking, cleaning, or replaying events, OCD can take a lot of mental energy, and much of it happens out of sight. Understanding the patterns is the first step toward relief.

Written by Quin Axelson, a Denver Metro Counseling therapist who specializes in OCD, helps people name what’s happening and find new ways of relating to their thoughts. She integrates several evidence-based techniques, including exposure and response prevention (ERP), individualizing her approach to fit your unique needs.

OCD isn’t defined by being overly tidy, or insisting that things be done in a certain way.

At the core, it describes living with thoughts that feel relentless, intrusive, and sometimes impossible to just “ignore”.

It can look like forming rituals: checking, cleaning, replaying conversations, seeking reassurance. Finding little ways to quiet the fear, only for it to return again.

That cycle is draining, and often invisible to the people around you.

Ketamine therapy isn’t a miracle cure.
But, the integration of what it opens in you? That can be pretty miraculous.

The images that don’t quite make sense.
The grief that rises unexpectedly.
A strange sense of calm.

The parts of you that don’t speak in language, or who are learning to speak for the first time.

What you do with those moments: how you hold them, reflect on them, and share them.

That’s where the real shift happens.

Miracles don’t always look like lightning bolts.
Sometimes, they’re quiet.
An insight that makes you rethink your behavior.
An internalized narrative that you slowly rewrite.
A layer of shame that gradually begins to fall away.

Ketamine-assisted therapy invites you to step outside the known.
Integration invites you to stay with what you find.

✨ This week’s blog post is for anyone curious about the benefits and precautions you should know about in deciding if Ketamine-assisted therapy is for you, especially if you’re experiencing symptoms of depression: https://shorturl.at/wtdmU

Trauma isn’t always something you remember.

Sometimes, it’s something your body carries. Passed down through silence, fear, and survival.

When pain goes unspoken for generations, it doesn’t disappear.
It echoes. Shaping how we love, how we cope, how we relate to ourselves and others.

Breaking the cycle isn’t about blame.
It’s about honoring what’s been carried, and choosing to feel it differently.

This week’s blog post explores how generational trauma moves through families, and how healing begins. You’ll learn what to look for, how trauma gets passed on, and what it takes to start shifting the pattern.

You don’t have to carry what was never yours to hold.

✨ Read more about generational trauma, healing your lineage, and reconnecting with yourself in the process: https://shorturl.at/6LVLo
