🧭 Roadmap to Becoming a Registered Play Therapist ™️

Thinking about becoming an RPT but not sure where to start? Here’s the quick breakdown:

Step 1: Education
🎓 Hold a master’s or doctoral degree in mental health (counseling, MFT, social work, psychology, etc.)

Step 2: Licensure
✅ Earn & maintain state licensure to independently practice (LPC, LMFT, LCSW, etc.)

Step 3: Play Therapy Training
📚 Complete 150 hours of APT-approved play therapy instruction

Step 4: Play Therapy Experience
👥 Complete at least 350 direct play therapy hours with clients
🙋‍♀️ Receive a minimum of 35 hours of supervision specifically from an RPT-S

Step 5: Apply through APT
📝 Submit your hours, documentation, & application through the Association for Play Therapy (APT)

⭐️⭐️That’s a Wrap on Day Two! ⭐️⭐️

Dr. Grant knows how to play—and so did we! The room was alive with laughter, energy, and connection as therapists let loose after a long week and reconnected with the heart of play therapy.

Through creative, hands-on training, Dr. Robert Jason Grant shared meaningful strategies to support neurodivergent clients and reminded us how powerful play can be in healing and growth.
