Teamsters Local 455 members, officers and agents joined with about 200 union and community activists on Thursday at the Colorado State Capitol for the launch of the Worker Protection Act campaign, a legislative fight to fix Colorado's broken union recognition system. In 2025, Governor Jared Polis vetoed the legislation that would have eliminated the requirement for a second election to win union representation. Colorado is the only state in the country with such an obstacle for workers seeking a union contract. "Our goal on Thursday was to let the public and the legislature know that we are not backing down," said Teamsters Local 455 Political Director Tammy Munoz. "It is time for the Governor and all electeds to stand with workers and pass this legislation."
