Teamsters Local 455 Meadow Gold members knew what they needed in their new contract. They needed to improve their health and welfare, and increase their pensions, and they needed to be paid what they deserve. On Sunday, by a vote of 110-3, Meadow Gold Local 455 Teamsters ratified a new three-year agreement that met every goal.

That deal includes reduced employee contributions to health and welfare. It doubles the company's pension contributions. And adds a total of $4 in wage increases over the term of the three-year agreement -- $1 retroactive to May, another $1 upon Sunday's ratification, and a $1 each year after.

"We all know unity is Union 101 when we are at the bargaining table and these members proved it," said Dean Modecker, Teamsters Local 455 Secretary-Treasurer.

Modecker thanked Jesse Case, IBT Food Processing Division Director, and Lou Villalvazo, Chair of the DFA National Bargaining Committee for building a comprehensive campaign to engage all DFA Locals with expiring agreements, including the Meadow Gold contract. "They put this plan together for all our Locals, and it was masterful," Modecker said.

But at the end of the day, it was the members' solidarity and determination that closed the deal with Meadow Gold.

"Our agents can be as strong as we want, our negotiators can be as strong as we want, but it all comes down to the members," Modecker said. "They drew a line in the sand and we won."

Teamsters Local 455 expanded their Labor Day Parade presence on Monday, traveling to Louisville AND Fountain, CO to celebrate the holiday. Thousands of attendees lined the parade routes to see Teamster trucks and Teamster drivers and catch mountains of Teamster swag -- frisbees, ice cream, muffins, candy -- generously donated by Teamster employers and Local 455! Can't wait to see everyone again next year!
