Over the weekend we had a fundraiser for the Alzheimer’s Association! 💜💙 Our local police department stopped by to make a bouquet at our build-a-bouquet flower bar! We also had a bake sale with goods made by staff and family members, a resident craft show, and a silent auction with items provided by our amazing partners! Thank you to everyone who participated in the fundraiser!

Today, one of our long-time chefs, Pemba Sherpa, is retiring. Pemba is from Nepal, in the region near Mt. Everest. As a young man he was part of over 25 expeditions to Everest, carrying 50 lb packs as well as ladders for the Khumbu icefall. He said they usually trekked the supplies as far as Camp 3. He also led 30-60 day trekking expeditions through Nepal. He’s heading back for 3 months and plans to do a two week trek to Mt Annapurna (he is 74!). Pemba is an extraordinary soul. He will be deeply missed!

Chaplain Aram did a special presentation on the St John’s Bible, the first completely handwritten and illuminated Bible to be commissioned since the invention of the printing press. It took 13 years to complete. The original is housed at St John’s University in Minnesota. 299 “Heritage Edition” reproductions can be found all over the world - including one that is on display in the chapel at Regis University in Denver. There are also large book sized editions available to the public. Aram and his wife Ellen have two of the volumes, which were displayed.

A simple remembrance and candle has been set out in our Chapel for the victims of the shooting in Minneapolis. We pray for the healing and protection of all of those impacted by this.

Yesterday we had Hunny B, the mini therapy horse, visit with our residents! 🐝 Hunny B also went up and visited our Memory Care residents! This mini horse put a HUGE smile on everyone’s faces! ❤️

Our Memory Care residents and staff members (Maddi and Addy) went to Frog Hollow Park in Denver! 🐸 The weather in Denver has been great, perfect for a stroll in the park!

11 of us went up to “Our Lady of the Pines” in Conifer for our monthly “Sacred Space” trip. Fr Tim Gaines showed us around their beautiful church, and then he celebrated Mass. We then went to the nearby Conifer Cafe where we enjoyed a relaxing lunch. Andy then took us home via the “scenic” route - down City View Road and then by Tiny Town.
