🎈Happy Birthday to our amazing instructor, Abi!

Join us in wishing her the best birthday and learn more about Abi below!

Abi is a comprehensivly certified Pilates Instructor through The Ground, a contemporary Pilates training program in Centennial, CO. She is also a ACSM certified Exercise Physiologist through her collegiate studies at Northern Arizona University.

Abi grew up in a very active family, so movement has always been a huge part of her life. It was in college that she decided to pursue a Health Sciences - Fitness Wellness degree after her first-hand experience of the positive impact movement can have on your overall health. This degree taught her new ways to help, educate, and more importantly, empower people.

Abi believes Pilates helps people build a strong awareness to their body as a whole, and how, with correct form and alignment, can keep people moving well and pain-free. She's an encouraging and detail-oriented teacher, who strives to create a welcoming & safe environment for people to move their body with ease!

Building body-awareness and encouraging modifications to make sure the movement is comfortable for each individual are key points in her classes.

Pilates has been transformational in her own journey to wellness and health, and she's excited to have the opportunity to share that same experience with our community at p.s!

🌟Join us in welcoming our newest p.s. Instructor, Amanda S!

You can find Amanda on the teaching Highlands studio schedule on Fridays at 8:30am, 9:30am and 10:30am classes starting this week!

Amanda is a comprehensively trained Pilates instructor through Pilates Academy International, a satellite program through Pilates on 5th in New York City. Amanda was born and raised in Denver, Colorado, so staying active is a big part of her life.

She began her Pilates journey through her yoga and dance background. She was inspired by her college dance professor, Patrick Suzeau, as he used Mat Pilates foundational movements to warm up his students before each one of his modern dance classes.

Amanda encourages her clients to find success through methodically conquering exercises that challenge their innate movement patterns.

Amanda is also a yoga instructor and dance coach who finds true joy in sharing her passion for movement.

What is p.s. II?
The perfect Pilates session for the seasoned Pilates practitioner! This intermediate/advanced class will work your body inside and out - and no session is the same!

You’ll work on different Pilates equipment including the Reformer, EXO Chair and more.

Prior Pilates experience is required.

Join us at the Highlands studio every Monday at 7pm!

Monday Movement is a challenging all-levels session that is great for those new to Pilates, back from a workout hiatus or learning to modify due to a specific limitation.

Learn the Pilates principles: concentration, control, centering, precision, breath & flow. You'll also start to familiarize yourself with the Pilates equipment and how to move between them efficiently and safely.

Q: You have been practicing Pilates at The Pilates Studio for over 8 years! What initially brought you to walk through these doors? 

“I had a bad horse wreck about 12 years ago where I broke my back in three places. Concurrently, I was diagnosed with a 15-degree scoliosis.  The bones recovered but it left me weak and unbalanced on one side of my body leading to muscle compensation and more pain. Pilates has helped to strengthen my core, hips, hamstrings, and erector muscles so that I can continue to ride competitively and avoid back surgery.”
 
Q: What has kept you coming week after week, year after year?

“I travel from Evergreen to Denver every week to practice Pilates with Kim. She is empathetic and knowledgeable about what my body needs each week and tailors our sessions to its unique deficiencies that day. I truly believe that without this type of movement on a consistent basis, I would not be able continue my active lifestyle. (Besides, Kim and I have 50 minutes to solve the World’s problems together.)”
 
Q: What move do you hate to love the most?!

“Oh come on – you know this – hamstring curls!”

🎈Join us in wishing our fabulous instructor, Rachel, the happiest of birthdays! We’re so happy to have your caring and nurturing instruction as part of our p.s. community!

Rachel is a comprehensively certified Pilates Instructor through Merrithew STOTT Pilates. She also holds a Bachelor’s in Exercise Science and is a Certified Personal Trainer through NASM. She has been teaching fitness since 2018 and feels extremely fortunate she gets to call this her job!

She loves helping people explore movement in ways that work well for their body, lifestyle and goals. Every body is different, and one of the things Rachel loves most about Pilates is that it encourages those differences, and provides options and challenges so each person feels successful. She is big on educating clients so they feel empowered in their practice and get the most out of it, but she also believes fitness should be fun.

🎈Join us in wishing Rissa the happiest of birthdays!

Rissa has recently joined our p.s. team as a substitute teacher and we’re so happy to have her uplifting energy in our community.

Rissa is a comprehensively certified teacher through The Lab Pilates teacher training program. She completed her certification in April of 2025! Rissa fell in love with Pilates in 2019 at a studio called Pilates + Coffee in Chicago. In Catherine Price’s TED Talk on why having fun is the secret to a healthier life, she encourages people to look for delight. And, when you see it, to put your index finger up and say “Delight!”. Rissa finds Pilates to be full of delight (“Delight!”).

Rissa is eager to work with clients of all ages and abilities, especially 50 somethings like her who want to prioritize strength, precision, functional movement, and delight.

Be on the lookout for her at either of our p.s. studios soon!

This session focuses on bone-strengthening & balance techniques to optimize the health and safety of your bones. This class focuses on promoting and maintaining balance and coordination and practicing these moves in a safe environment. Expect to use all types of props and pieces of equipment. Safe for those with osteoporosis.

All levels are welcome!
