Resident Council Roundtable!

Residents gathered for a special Resident Council Roundtable featuring tea, muffins, and meaningful conversation. Residents enjoyed the opportunity to spend time together sharing thoughts, experiences, and conversation in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. It was a lovely morning filled with connection, laughter, and community.

Meet our Activities Associates, Padma and Ari, who have helped make Skilled Nursing Care Week extra special! Throughout the week, residents have enjoyed several beautiful tea parties! One of the highlights has been creating whimsical teacup hats together, giving everyone a chance to express their creativity and have fun. The joy and smiles shared throughout the week have been truly wonderful, and we are loving every moment of celebrating together!

In celebration of Skilled Nursing Care Week, we were thrilled to surprise two members of our incredible clinical team with special raffle prizes! After drawing names from our dedicated CNAs, RNs, and LPNs, one lucky winner received a beautiful spa and self-care gift bag generously donated by our Sales and Marketing team. Our Director of Wellness, Keith, was also surprised with a portable cooler filled with energy drinks, kindly donated by Barney from Perennial Advantage.

We are so grateful to our entire hardworking nursing staff for the compassion and dedication they show every day. We hope everyone is having a wonderful time celebrating Skilled Nursing Care Week!

Through our partnership with Denver Parks and Recreation, residents enjoyed a wonderful afternoon birding class at Sloan’s Lake. Using binoculars, we identified a diverse mix of birds, including Barn Swallows, Red-winged Blackbirds, Western Grebes, Mallards, Canada Geese, and even an Osprey soaring overhead. We also spotted a Double-crested Cormorant on the water, which we nicknamed the "Loch Ness Monster".

Residents learned about bird behaviors, habitats, and identification while enjoying the peaceful beauty of the lake. Following the class, everyone gathered together for a picnic lunch and fellowship, making for a truly lovely afternoon outdoors.

Kicking off Skilled Nursing Care Week with warmth, laughter, and a little tea-time magic!

Our week started off with “Sip, Savor, & Bloom” Tea Party for residents, families, friends, and community partners. Residents enjoyed homemade baked goodies prepared by our kitchen team, relaxing music, games, conversation, and exciting raffle giveaways throughout the afternoon.

A special thank you to The Denver Hospice, Trinity Hospice, and Bristol Hospice for joining us and generously providing gift baskets so every resident had the opportunity to participate in the raffles. It was wonderful to see all three hospice teams come together in support of residents, staff and each other, helping create such a joyful and welcoming atmosphere.

We were honored to welcome Nature's Educators for an immersive session featuring four incredible animal ambassadors: Thistle the Eastern Screech Owl, Zelda the Prairie Falcon, Zazu the African Pied Crow, and Boreas the Swainson’s Hawk! This special visit kicked off our month-long "Wings & Melodies" programming.

Community members were captivated by the birds' unique vocalizations and behaviors, creating an afternoon filled with curiosity and meaningful sensory engagement.

Wings & Melodies will carry on throughout the month with:
• Bird watching outings at Sloan’s Lake
• Learning to recognize bird calls
• Exploring music inspired by nature

The Spearly Center is honored to celebrate Johilyn Herrada as the Hero of the Month! Over the past ten months, Johilyn has proven to be an incredibly dedicated CNA who puts her whole heart into her work and takes immense pride in caring for the community. Originally from Venezuela, she remains deeply grateful to the individuals who supported her journey toward joining the team. Outside of her professional life, Johilyn enjoys traveling, reading, and spending quality time with her family, all while staying focused on perfecting her English. Her passion for helping others is a true inspiration, and the community is proud to have such a compassionate and hardworking individual as part of The Spearly Center family.
