Contemplative Outreach of Colorado

Contemplative Outreach of Colorado Our purpose is to share the method of Centering Prayer and its immediate conceptual background.

For 40 years, Contemplative Outreach of Colorado has been devoted to teaching and supporting thousands of people from all walks of life and denominations in their search for inner transformation through Centering Prayer. Contemplative Outreach is a spiritual network of individuals and small faith communities committed to living the contemplative dimension of the Gospel in everyday life through the practice of Centering Prayer. We also encourage the practice of Lectio Divina, particularly its movement into Contemplative Prayer, which a regular and established of Centering Prayer facilitates. We identify with the Christian Contemplative Heritage in which Centering Prayer is rooted. While we are formed by our respective denominations, we are united in our common search for God and the experience of the living Christ through Centering Prayer. We affirm our solidarity with the contemplative dimensions of other religions and sacred traditions, with the needs and rights or the whole human family, and with all creation.

Snowmass Monestary in the News

A 3,700-acre property owned by St. Benedict’s Monastery is now on the market for $150 million as the religious institution faces a dwindling population of monks. Past efforts to preserve the land never came to fruition — but some local groups hope a collaboration might help.

We are extremely grateful that Cynthia Bourgeault could join us for our Fall Conference. This is the final conference that we will hold at the Center's current location on Yates Street in Denver. We feel blessed that so many of you joined us in sharing Cynthia’s perspective on Father Thomas Keating and her revelations about him from her new book, Thomas Keating: The Making of a Modern Christian Mystic.

Cynthia shared about Father Keating’s life as a Trappist monk. She explained that this was not the end of Keating's story. She expounded on Father Keating’s evolution as a spiritual thinker and mystic, and his increasing engagement with nondual spiritual practice His contributions to interspiritual dialogue. These profound final stages of Keating's spiritual journey demonstrate how one might find one’s own way as modern mystics, fundamentally at home and at peace in the universe.

The contributions of our staff and community make possible extraordinary events such as our recent Fall Conference. We all feel very blessed that so many of you could join us on Saturday, October 19, 2024.
