Join us for a fun and energizing fundraising concert to honor and support women. All ticket proceeds go to The Initiative and their work to create an abusive free culture for all.

Time & Location

Mar 05, 7:00 PM
Aurora, 9995 E Colfax Ave, Aurora, CO 80010, USA

The original RESPECT! concert was arranged in Alingsås, Sweden in 2020 by the rocking boss babe Ninna. The show was performed by women to honor and support other women and all the proceeds went to a local women's shelter. Seeing this strong and passionate show inspired us to bring the concept over to the USA!

2021 was a difficult year for many, with COVID still having a big influence in how we operated and lived life. For that reason, RESPECT! was held as a virtual event - live on youtube! As for the beneficiary we chose The Initiative. With COVID limiting our time outside of the home and domestic abuse raising in numbers, we felt a need of supporting an organization that brings awareness to and tries to prevent domestic abuse.

Join us in person, live stream, or simply donate!

Traditional holiday foods with ingredients that agree with me!

I no longer have sit and watch everyone else eat yummy foods and force a smile

--> Everyone has different dietary needs at different times. Add or take away ingredients depending on what works for you.

Sharing my meal plan is meant to inspire ideas, save time and hopefully make your week easier!

Does a holiday meal feel like all or nothing? Either I go all in and suffer the consequences later, or I can't eat anything and have a miserable time....

Here are some suggestions to enjoy yourself AND take care of yourself during a holiday meal:

🙏 Ask to cook or bake something yourself rather than feeling like you HAVE to eat what others made

🥘 Adapt the recipe! There are so many food substitutions and amazing recipes out there that can suit your needs. You can still enjoy traditional recipes!

😄 Be up front. Tell your friends and family what you need. Ultimately, they want you to feel good and enjoy the holidays, so people pleasing isn’t going to benefit you or them

😉 You have permission to have a bite or two. If pumpkin pie if your favorite food, have a bite rather than a whole slice to satisfy but not overdo it

💓 Focus on what brings you joy outside of food. The company you're with, the games you'll play, the laughter, the hugs, etc...so much to be grateful for!

OR…

It’s possible that eating the food is worth it!

Ask yourself: “will eating this food have a net positive or a net negative effect?”. Meaning, if all things considered, eating the food is more positive than negative, go ahead and enjoy!

Make sure to ask yourself this BEFORE you are really hungry 😉

Back to work....

While I LOVE the work I do, ending maternity leave is HARD and I am mad. This is my angry rant about the inadequate parental leave rights we have in this country.

We have to do better

I took 12 weeks off, and my husband took 4, which is more than most of us have. I'm grateful for that, but she is still so little....so in need of her parents. Women and men should have the option to go back to work if they want or have assistance taking care of their precious children without fear of losing their jobs or not being able to pay their bills

We have to do better

I was always upset about the US being one of the worst countries in terms of disability and parental leave, but it hits so much harder now that I'm a mother

This is also a conversation about chronic illness. Those of us with autoimmune diseases may be so sick but go to work because we have to, and end up even more sick or in the hospital. Our disease may just keep getting worse. Where is our support?

How do we change this??? Let's keep the conversation going

Do you find yourself thinking about food ALL THE TIME? Do you constantly worry about what to eat and what not to eat?

It’s great that diet is becoming more and more recognized as a helpful or harmful contributor to disease

BUT- we still underemphasize the role our minds play in chronic conditions like IBD

When it comes to seeing real change and living a healthier life, we need to think about more than just food

Start with your values and beliefs. Think of them as your foundation. We need a strong foundation before we can build

That’s means, first and foremost, BELIEVING YOU CAN CHANGE. That you’re not stuck. That means identifying WHY your health matters in the first place

Become really clear on these two questions:

➡Why is my health important to me?
➡Do I believe I can change?

With the belief that we have the power to change, and knowing why it’s important to change, everything else becomes easier. Food will feel less stressful and we can work on food from a more relaxed and in control place

We walk around all the time with pain others don’t see.

IBD and other diseases are called “invisible illnesses". The pain is hidden, so others may never ask about it

In our coaching sessions you can openly talk about your pain. I believe we all need the space to comfortably do that.

We will talk through how to manage it and ways to improve the pain, but sometimes all we need is to talk about it out loud to someone who gets it.

So just checkin in, how's your pain today?

This little peanut has started to smile! 😃

Our bodies LOVE smiling

Smiling reduces pain, lowers stress hormones, boosts mood, and strengthens the immune system

You also don’t need to feel happy to smile and get those benefits. Faking a smile can still make you happier!

Try on a big smile next time you have pain or feel down and see what happens

What an easy and inexpensive health hack, right?!

*bonus benefits for laughing 😂

Hope you feel a little better 😊

I am still on maternity leave but wanted to make sure you knew I'll be back to coaching November 8th and I'm currently accepting new clients!

Are you or someone you care about:

➡ Sick of pretending to be fine when you are actually suffering?

➡ Looking for support from someone who can relate to your symptoms and feelings?

➡ Wanting to dig deeper than, "you have to take this medication for the rest of your life"?

➡Feeling a loss of identity and out of control of your body and life?

Please reach out or pass on my information. Most people I talk to these days have an autoimmune disease or gut issues, know someone who does, or are suffering without a diagnosis and can't find answers

I do what I do because I wish I had someone like me when I was diagnosed and by my side throughout my journey with chronic illness

Fear of food can become a problem when we don’t yet know which foods trigger symptoms

This makes every decision about what to put in our mouths (especially if you’re eating out or not in control of the food options) a real mind f$&@

Feelings of fear can lead to a lot of stress around meal time. This stress- regardless of what you eat- can make matters worse

Ideally we want to eat in a relaxed manner, breathing deeply, and enjoying every bite slowly. These practices aid digestion and are so helpful when we already have impaired gut function

One more tip is to practice a new thought.
Rather than thinking “I’m scared” (your body hears that!), try thinking,

“I’m learning”

With each meal/food/bite you are learning your trigger foods. You can never make the wrong choice because it’s all learning!

I help people with IBD learn their trigger foods, how to manage eating out and social situations, and actually enjoy meals!

I was so fearful of food for years until I realized the fear, not just the food, was contributing to my pain

You can enjoy food again! Visit my website to set up a free call.

A lot of us have heard of an anti-inflammatory diet (avoiding inflammatory foods such as sugar, gluten, dairy, soy, corn, processed foods, food sensitivities, etc)

But what about other things besides foods that cause inflammation?

Consider these other factors that can cause stress, inflammation and harm to your body:
-people
-places
-thoughts

Start with identifying and addressing those 3 things.

Are there toxic people in your life?

Are the places you spend the most time uncomfortable/unsafe/full of chemicals, etc?

Are the common thoughts that fill your brain negative/hurtful/unhelpful?

If you notice a problem in one or all of these areas- what can you change or start to work on?

Diet is so important, but it’s not the only thing that contributes to stress in the body
