Me at 16: thought 60 was ancient.
Me at 60-something: turns out ancient is kind of incredible.

Thin brows were the trend. Tweezers were the weapon. Regret was inevitable. If your brows never fully recovered from the decade that shall not be named, the Make Beauty Nano Brow Pencil was made for exactly this situation.

This is the recipe that my husband asks me to make for him constantly. Use your blender to transform staples like bananas, oatmeal, eggs, and maple syrup into Blender Banana Bread that’s gluten-free and utterly delicious.

Someone’s going to comment that “Generation Jones” is made up. Cool. So is “Baby Boomer.” So is “Gen X.” Every generational label was invented by somebody — a journalist, a sociologist, a historian or a book deal. Jonathan Pontell coined Generation Jones in the late 1990s and the term has been used by the New York Times, Politico, and researchers ever since. We just don’t hear it enough. Save this graphic. Share it with your people.

I’m Jill, and this is GrownupDish.
I’m Generation Jones. Too young to be a Boomer, too old to go viral for the right reasons. We grew up on rotary phones and figured out adulthood on our own. Now we’re supposed to understand AI. Sure.
I’m here for easy food, real product reviews, and the kind of humor that comes from having actual life experience.

Generation Jones is made up. So is Gen X. So is Boomer. So is every generational name ever coined. They’re all invented terms that stuck. The date night Italian cooking class at Cook Street was excellent. We made stuffed mussels, braciole with risotto and homemade vanilla ice cream with a coffee caramel sauce, and an amaretto cookie.

Welcome!

Hey new friends! There are a LOT of new faces on this page so I wanted to say welcome and I'm so glad that you are here. Shall we share some fun facts so that we can get to know each other?

1. I'm Jill and I live in Denver, CO with my husband Paul. I grew up in Florida but after spending 20+ years in Ohio (before moving to CO), I consider myself a midwest girl. 2. I started grownupdish.com in May 2018 because I didn't see much representation of people my (our?) age in the food and health/wellness space. I want to change that! Thanks for following me, and if you like what you see, please tell your friends. 3. I believe in eating REAL food. I try to eat a lower carb, Paleo-ish diet with lots of veggies but I do not eat clean 100% of the time. I do try to cook as much as possible and focus on eating unprocessed food that my body can recognize. 4. I adore Graeters ice cream. I don't like bananas. And bell peppers don't like me. Other than that, I'm up for trying almost anything. The weirdest thing I've ever eaten was kangaroo meat (when I was in Australia.) 5. I have more interests than time. I love going to the movies, cooking, reading, dancing, gardening, knitting, memory keeping, photography, traveling and MORE. I thought that when I stopped working full time I'd have more time to pursue my many hobbies, but I'm finding that I'm busier than ever. How does that happen?

One final thought ... I'm doing my best to keep it real. Everyone has "stuff" going on despite the perfectly curated moments you see on social media. Life isn't all smiles and happy cooking videos. But I believe that having a positive attitude, good friends and a healthy sense of humor will help us navigate whatever life throws at us.

Now that I've spilled it, it's YOUR turn. Tell me something about you in the comments ... pretty please.
