Helping people recover from injury can be done in many ways. We do as needed soft tissue work and strength training to help people create a safer stimulus for improvement. If you feel good you will be able to move better than when you walked in. If you walk out feeling better then we have created a great program for you to be your best.

Every one of our training clients get a heart rate monitoring chest strap from when they work with us.

It’s been a game changer for our clients and our ability to program for them.

It gives us the insight and ability to pivot a workout or soft tissue session and is a measurable tool for the client to see real results.

Do you use a HRV monitoring system?

Basic but fundamental. If you’re not looking at your habits around these 5 principles but then expect a supplement, a diet, a bio hacking tool/practice to fix all your problems and get you over night results, you’ll always be on the search.

Why?

Because it’s not just one thing that creates a healthier body, if our basic most fundamental needs of our body aren’t being met then we’ll never see or feel the results we’re looking for.

Tracking your habits tends to give clarity so that you know what your base line is and what you need to do to achieve your goals.

We’ve created a FREE Ultimate Guide to Better Health Workbook to help you create a healthier lifestyle one day at a time.

There are so much amazing and fancy expensive equipment out there these days.

I just want to remind everyone I started my clinic with a cheap squat rack, one eliptical, and some rubber bands.

It’s helpful to afford the nicer things but a good coach will be able to get you results with any price of equipment that’s available.

One of the saddest things I’ve heard was when an athlete told me they were not allowed to skateboard or snowboard anymore as their coach banned them from it so that they were not to get hurt.

Athletes should absolutely go out and do other sports. They should do the things that bring them joy. Injuries suck but they can’t be prevented. To prevent someone from doing something they love will only limit their ability to grow and could eventually cause them to not enjoy their sport and want to eventually leave.

Variety is the key to fulfillment in life. We should do all sorts of things and experiment because movement variability will only help the brain create more maps of the possibilities of what can happen. And if you get hurt during it so be it, pain is temporary but happiness can be forever.

Today’s Olympic sports medicine talk was about placebos. Plenty of athletes come in asking for dry needling and/or cupping. I am not a fan of them but I also won’t deny someone else’s belief. The greatness of the sports medicine team is the openness to the current trends. It may not be 100% effective but it can give that athlete a chance to perform at a 100%. The goal here is to reinstate movement that is pain free and efficient as fast as possible and sometimes a placebo is what’s needed.

This is only day 2. I also got to experience BFR training on myself for the first time so just expect another 6k device in our office soon. I’m okay with saying I am still learning. I hope you are as well.

The best thing I’ve learned so far working with the olympians is you’re biases don’t matter. There is no special or perfect technique out there at will magically fix someone. With 5 different clinicians working with the same athlete there are 5 different ways to treat and they are all helpful. All rehab and recovery really is about is how to empower the athlete to feel a bit better in order for them go get back to training to move better and get stronger.

Don’t get sucked into the overly expensive course that promises to be the best method because really it gets the same results as the cheapest course out there.

Don't let one persons biases control your life. I hear a lot of therapists these days moving backwards and putting the blame game on peoples discomfort trying to correlate it with their posture.

Your posture has nothing to do with your pain. The body is adaptable. You are ever changing and yes your posture will look different over years. Posture is a resting position and we rest to help us recover. How we look will be different from person to person because of our DNA, genetics, environment, our history, our own biases, and our current motor control.

Bones are different shapes and sizes with each person if your 4 feet tall you will look much different than someone who is 7 feet tall and that is okay. Your organs are all different shapes and all moving constantly forcing your structure to work around with what you go.

If someone blames your posture on your pain or movement disfunction thank them for their time and take walk away. Blame has no part in education of how to move more efficiently for your sport or goals.

Don’t get us wrong, we love a good cup of coffee ☕️ But when the chronic caffeine use starts to feel like part of the problem and not the solution, it’s time to use your body’s own built in tools to give yourself a boost.

Think of these things as long term solutions rather than quick fixes. Put them into practice and notice what changes for you.
