When people think of hospice care, they often picture medical support—but there’s another layer of care that’s just as essential: emotional and spiritual support.

Hospice chaplains play a vital role in caring for patients and families during some of life’s most vulnerable moments. Their work goes far beyond religion. They provide a compassionate presence, helping individuals navigate fear, grief, meaning, and connection, regardless of personal beliefs or background.

Chaplains:
• Offer emotional support and a listening ear
• Help patients process life stories, regrets, and legacy
• Support families through anticipatory grief and loss
• Create space for peace, reflection, and dignity
• Honor each person’s values - religious, spiritual, or not

At the heart of hospice is whole-person care. Chaplains remind us that healing isn’t always about curing - it’s about comfort, understanding, and being truly seen.

April is Parkinson’s Awareness Month 💜

Parkinson’s disease is a progressive condition that affects so much more than movement - it touches every part of a person’s life, as well as the lives of those who love and care for them.

At A Peaceful Journey Hospice, we have extensive experience supporting individuals living with Parkinson’s, walking alongside patients and families with compassion, dignity, and understanding through each stage.

Hospice care offers:
• Gentle symptom management focused on comfort
• Emotional and spiritual support
• Guidance through difficult decisions
• Ongoing support for caregivers

No one should have to face this journey alone. We are here to walk alongside our patients and their families with compassion and expertise 🙏

As we enter this Easter weekend, we reflect on the true meaning of the season—He is risen.

The resurrection of Jesus reminds us that even in the face of loss, there is hope. Even in life’s most difficult moments, there is purpose, peace, and the promise of something greater.

In hospice care, we are honored to walk alongside patients and families during some of life’s most sacred and vulnerable moments. We witness firsthand the importance of compassion, dignity, and faith—values that echo the message of Easter.

Because of Him, we are reminded that the end of this life is not the end of the story. There is comfort in knowing that love endures, and hope remains.

Wishing you and your loved ones a peaceful and meaningful Easter. 🤍

Passover is a time of reflection, remembrance, and renewal. The story of Passover reminds us of the journey from hardship to freedom—and the strength, faith, and hope carried along the way.

In hospice care, we are invited into deeply personal journeys every day. We walk alongside patients and families through moments of challenge, transition, and reflection—honoring each story, each life, and each step with compassion and dignity.

This season serves as a meaningful reminder of the importance of presence: being there for one another, offering comfort, and creating space for peace in life’s most significant moments.

We honor this time of reflection and the meaning it holds for those who observe.

A lot can happen in seven days.

From celebration to sacrifice… from grief to hope… from loss to new life.
This Holy Week reminds us of the journey that so many of our patients and families walk every day—filled with moments of uncertainty, reflection, love, and ultimately, peace.

At the heart of what we do is the belief that every person deserves dignity, compassion, and support through every stage of life’s journey. Just as the story of Easter does not end in sorrow, we are honored to walk alongside those we serve—bringing comfort, presence, and light, even in the most difficult moments.

This season is a powerful reminder that even in the hardest days, hope remains.

Wishing you and your loved ones peace, reflection, and renewal this Easter season. 🤍

As we continue to honor Social Work Month, we want to recognize the vital role of hospice social workers.

Often misunderstood, hospice social workers are not something to fear—they are a compassionate support system and an essential part of the care team.

You wear many hats, from offering emotional support to helping families navigate complex situations. Your steady presence, empathy, and advocacy make a lasting difference in every life you touch.💙

This St. Patrick’s Day, we’re feeling extra lucky 🍀

Lucky to serve our community.Lucky to walk alongside patients and families during life’s most meaningful moments. And lucky to have a team that brings compassion, dignity, and even a little lightness to each day.

In hospice, we’re reminded that it’s not about chasing pots of gold—but about cherishing connection, comfort, and the time we have together.

Wishing everyone a safe and joyful St. Patrick’s Day… and maybe a little extra luck finding your green today 😉

March is Social Work Month — a time to recognize the incredible social workers who support patients and families through life’s most vulnerable moments. In hospice care, they are the steady presence: guiding difficult conversations, advocating for patient wishes, navigating complex resources, and offering comfort when it’s needed most. Their compassion, strength, and dedication ensure no one walks this journey alone. We are deeply grateful for all that you do. 💙

One of the most common things we hear in the healthcare industry is: “We’re not ready for hospice.”

In our experience, that rarely means no. It usually means overwhelmed. Scared. Unsure. The language we use in that moment matters.

Hospice isn’t about giving up — it’s about adding support, improving comfort, and walking alongside families during one of the hardest seasons of life.

Our goal isn’t just to receive referrals. It’s to equip our community partners with tools and language that make these conversations feel less intimidating and more supportive. If this would be helpful for your team, we are always happy to provide education or resources.

Because sometimes “not ready” just means “not yet informed.”

When is the right time to call hospice?

Often, it’s sooner than many people realize.

Hospice focuses on supportive care- managing symptoms, easing discomfort, and preserving quality of life for patients facing serious illness. It also provides guidance and support for families during an emotionally complex time.

Calling hospice does not mean the end is immediate. It means having an experienced care team in place to help patients live as fully and comfortably as possible, wherever they call home.

If there are frequent hospitalizations, increasing symptoms, or noticeable changes in daily functioning, it may be the right time to start the conversation.
Early support can make a meaningful difference, for both patients and those who love them.
