A young cherry blossom tree, planted in April, has taken root in the west courtyard of our Inpatient Care Unit—a loving tribute to Connie, a mom who is dearly missed. An enduring reminder of love, loss, and the care she received at The Denver Hospice. Yesterday, Connie’s son Michael (pictured with Care Synergy’s Chief Operating Officer Tricia Ford) was on hand to help unveil a new plaque placed in front of the tree honoring Connie and her legacy.

This weekend, The Denver Hospice was honored to join thousands of walkers at Denver’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s! Not only were we proud to sponsor this inspiring event, but our team laced up their sneakers to walk in solidarity with families, caregivers, and loved ones impacted by Alzheimer’s. It was an incredible day of community, hope, and shared purpose.

Visitors to the Nurse’s Station at The Denver Hospice’s Inpatient Care Center (ICC) are greeted by a lovely quilt created by Diana Bailey, one of our ICC nurses. Diana, who has been with TDH since the 1990s (with the occasional break to focus on raising her family), made the quilt to allow her co-workers to honor loved ones they had lost – a reminder that even those providing care need recognition for their own personal grief.

On the back of the quilt are more than 60 names contributed by Diana’s co-workers of loved ones whose memories they cherished. Diana painstakingly created the quilt when The Denver Hospice ICC was at another location, but when the ICC was moved to our current Lowry location, Diana’s supervisor insisted the quilt move as well. Diana agreed, with one condition: that the quilt could not be hidden behind glass, but instead was there for anyone to look at closely or touch.

And it has served that purpose and then some. “Not a day goes by that someone doesn’t comment on the quilt,” said Diana. “Often people will take pictures with it or just touch it to feel connection with others who have lost loved ones.” And for those who take an interest in the quilt, Diana sometimes offers them an extra challenge: find the seven tiny hearts sewn with love into the quilt.

The mission of The Denver Hospice is to encircle those facing advanced illness with unprecedented levels of comfort, compassion, and expertise. Diana’s quilt is a perfect symbol of that mission in action.

This August, we’re recognizing MedicAlert Awareness Month!

Medical IDs can save lives by giving first responders instant access to critical medical details, such as allergies, medications, or conditions, when you can’t speak for yourself.

At The Denver Hospice, we know that planning ahead brings peace of mind. A MedicAlert ID can be a simple but powerful step toward safety for patients and loved ones.

Home is where memories, love, and comfort come together—and for over 75% of hospice patients, it’s also where they spend their final days surrounded by the care and warmth they cherish most.

At The Denver Hospice, we help make this possible by bringing compassionate, family-centered care directly to the bedside. Each visit is about comfort, dignity, and connection, allowing families to focus on love and meaningful moments.

Thank you to our community for trusting us to care for your loved ones in the place they feel most at peace.

A wild and wonderful morning at the zoo!

Our Footprints patients and their families spent a memorable day at the Denver Zoo, complete with complimentary admission, meal vouchers, and the chance to pet and feed stingrays and giraffes alongside the amazing zoo staff.

We are so grateful to Denver Zoo Conservation Alliance for helping us create a morning filled with joy, connection, and meaningful moments for the families we serve.

This day was a beautiful reminder that care means walking alongside families, creating memories, and sharing joy wherever we can.
