What a full-circle moment! 💜 🎓 Jessica in grad school would be proud of me right now!

I graduated from West Chester University with my Master’s in Public Health, and last week, I had the opportunity to return and speak to the Women in Business West Chester University

Standing in that room, now on the other side as a speaker, was something I don’t take lightly.

I led a session on How to Heal from Stress, where we focused on five key areas:
• Communication
• Acceptance
• Environment
• Mindfulness
• Self-care

What I love about Women in Business West Chester University is their commitment to creating a space for dedicated and strong women to grow in the business world.
Thank you again to all the amazing women in the room! Can't wait to stay connected!

Today’s Stress Less habit: Ownership instead of avoiding.

I’ve been seeing a trend on Instagram that says there’s no such thing as TMI in real friendship.

When you share, I share.

And that’s how we build deeper relationships.

But what if we applied that same energy to ownership?

➡️ Ownership when I said the mean thing.

➡️ Ownership when I overreacted.

➡️ Ownership when I was wrong.

➡️ Ownership when I didn’t communicate clearly.

Avoiding can be easy.

We can get defensive.

We justify.

We blame stress.

We say, “Well they…”

But ownership?

Ownership builds trust.

It lowers tension.

It softens arguments.

It raises the standard of the relationship.

Because when one person takes responsibility, it creates safety for the other person to do the same.

➡️ Imagine the standard you set when you say:

“That was on me.”

“I shouldn’t have said it like that.”

“I’m sorry.”

This is a habit I practice (imperfectly) and teach in my book and stress communication workshops because awareness is powerful, but ownership is transformational.

Where could you take ownership this week? 💬💜

Over five years ago, when I started my business, I never imagined how deeply su***de prevention would become part of the journey.

Over the past few years, many of you have supported the fundraisers I’ve hosted. This year looks a little different, but the mission is still the same. 💜

Instead of hosting my annual event, I am serving on the Construction Hike for Hope with the American Foundation for Su***de Prevention (Philadelphia), and we’re bringing the 🚧 Philadelphia Construction Hike for Hope to life on May 2nd (details coming soon). American Foundation for Su***de Prevention Greater Philadelphia

For my personal team, I’m hoping to raise $600 for construction awareness and su***de prevention, and I’d love for this community to be part of it.

There are a few ways you can support:

🥾 Join my team: https://supporting.afsp.org/teams/388049?wait=1&key=message_imageuploadsuccess¬ification=success

🤝 Become a Hike for Hope sponsor: https://supporting.afsp.org/sponsorhike?eventID=11679

💜 Make a donation: https://supporting.afsp.org/teams/388049?wait=1&key=message_imageuploadsuccess¬ification=success

🙏 Thank you for continuing to show up for this mission and for each other.

Today’s Stress Less habit: Be aware of how much energy I have.

Something a professor once told me in college has stayed with me for years:

“Be aware of your energy.”

In undergrad, I was studying to become a D&A therapist. I was going to be working with people every day — which meant I had to be aware of the energy I was bringing into sessions and relationships.

She told us:

Bring your full percentage for the day.

If you’re at 60%, bring your full 60%.
If you’re at 80%, bring your full 80%.

Not someone else’s 100%.
Not yesterday’s energy.
Not who you think you “should” be.

Just your full capacity for today.

Awareness changes everything.

You are allowed to be tired.
You are allowed to need alone time.
You are allowed to not feel “on.”

The trick isn’t pretending you have more energy than you do.

The trick is accepting where you are — and showing up fully from there.

This is a habit I practice constantly and one I teach in my book and stress communication workshops — because when we understand our energy, we make better decisions at work and at home.

What percentage are you at today? 💬💜

🎿 36 and back on skis after 10 years… what could go wrong? 🤷‍♀️

This weekend I turned the big 3-6, and we headed to the mountains.

The weekend included:
❄️ Watching the Cardboard Classic with 93.3 WMMR Philadelphia
🎶 Dancing to an 80’s cover band
🎿 Skiing for the first time in a decade
On paper, it sounds like a packed schedule… and it was.

But the moments I’ll remember most weren’t the big activities; they were the little things.
💜 Birthday cake for breakfast with a sparkly candle
💜 The reminder that adventures mean more than gifts
💜 Flowers are not just for me, but for my friends too
💜 Friends who never question my “let’s try this!” ideas
💜 Homemade birthday gifts celebrating my running journey

Celebration doesn’t have to be a big event. Sometimes it’s just noticing the moments that make you smile and letting yourself enjoy them.

So here’s your reminder to pause and celebrate the little wins, the little adventures, and the people who make them memorable.

A few years ago, Matthew Applegate invited me to bring interactive workshops to his team at CI Services to show appreciation for all the work they do!

➡️ That opportunity led me to his team in Austin.

➡️ Which then led me to present at the corporate HR Summit for UniTek Global Services in Dallas.

And before I even talk about the workshop, I have to pause to put my emotional hat on 😭 .

Because of CI Services, a UniTek Global Services Company, I’ve been challenged to grow.

To refine.

To customize.

To listen deeper.

For this, I truly will always be grateful for the chance that was taken on me so many workshops ago.

Working with teams across multiple locations gave me a stronger understanding of their team, their pressure points, and what they truly need when it comes to stress, communication, and time management.

🎤 At the HR Summit, I led a two-hour session on:

• Defining stress beyond the buzzword

• Building self-awareness

• Understanding how your stress impacts your role — and your team

When organizations invest in their people consistently, not just once, the impact multiplies.

🥹 I’m incredibly grateful for the trust and the continued partnership.

🎤 If your organization is ready to invest in practical, interactive workshops that meet your teams where they are, let’s start the conversation.

Today’s Stress Less habit: Noticing the story I’m telling myself.

Oof.

Those thoughts in our head can quickly ruin our day, can’t they?

➡️ Someone doesn’t respond to your text.

➡️ Your boss says, “Can we talk tomorrow?”

➡️ Your partner gets quiet.

And suddenly the story starts:

“I did something wrong.”

“They’re upset with me.”

“I’m not good enough.”

“I’m in trouble.”

But here’s the thing:

That’s a story.

Not necessarily a fact.

One of my favorite phrases (thank you, Brené Brown) is:

“The story I’m telling myself is…”

It creates just enough space to pause and ask:

Is this true?

When we become aware of the story, we gain control over it.

This is one of the habits I practice daily and one I teach in my book and workshops because awareness always comes before change.

What story have you caught yourself telling lately? 💭💜

Learn Your Burnout. 😠

That’s the conversation I brought to J29, Inc. during our recent virtual session.

What I appreciate about this team is how intentionally they invest in their people, not just professionally, but personally. They understand that performance and well-being are connected.

When I teach about stress and burnout, one truth always surfaces:

Yes, work can be demanding.

➡️ But many of us are carrying stress that doesn’t start at the office.

Home life. Relationships. Finances. Health. Expectations.

It all comes with us.

🎤 In this workshop, we focused on awareness, recognizing that everyone is carrying something, and most of us are simply trying to figure this thing called life out while still showing up at work.

➡️ When teams understand that, communication shifts. Accountability improves. Grace increases. Performance follows.

🎤 If your organization is navigating change, pressure, or growing demands, let’s talk about bringing Learn Your Burnout to your team.

🙏 Thank you, Sarah Tonelli, SHRM-SCP, for all that you and your team!
