The application and admission process is competitive and top graduates are considered for employment at the Denver Health Paramedic Division. The Paramedic School is housed at the Rita Bass Trauma and EMS Education Institute. This state-of-the art facility is situated on the Denver Health campus and is solely dedicated to the education of the next generation of healthcare professionals. NATURE OF WORK:
People’s lives often depend on the quick reaction and competent care of emergency medical technicians (EMTs) and paramedics - EMTs with additional advanced training to perform more difficult prehospital medical procedures. Incidents as varied as automobile accidents, heart attacks, drownings, childbirth, and gunshot wounds all require immediate medical attention. EMTs and paramedics provide this vital service as they care for and transport the sick or injured to a medical facility. The Lee Fire, which started burning on August 2nd after thunderstorms, was initially estimated to be around 100 acres in size. Despite continuous efforts from multiple wildland teams, the fire has steadily grown and is now at just under 89,000 acres and 0% contained. This photo was taken by one of our paramedic wildland team members who arrived at the Lee Fire yesterday and is assigned to night operations.
