These days, EVERYTHING is online. And sometimes we need a break from it all! Self care isn't just about scheduling appointments and taking time off (though that's crucial too).

Limiting your screen time is a good first step towards a healthier mental health. But if you are online a lot, at least make it a place you want to be! Follow positive accounts with healthy messages. If there's a creator that you follow who makes you feel bad -- unfollow them! Protect yourself, your peace, and your boundaries.

The algorithm is very similar to life -- you get what you focus on. So focus on the good stuff!

Need some self care on the fly?

Take a walk without a place to be. Go to the park with no agenda. Sit on a park bench and watch the birds. Read a book. Pick out shapes you see in the clouds. Bring a little snack. Pick some flowers. Lay down in the grass. Take a deep breath and remember what it felt like to be a kid.

A lot of times we think that self-care means DOING something. And that can be true. But often times, it means slowing down and doing less. On purpose!

Here's a little self-care tip for those busy days when you can't get in to see us!

Have you heard the term 'brain dump' before? It's a style of journaling that doesn't require a prompt or a plan. Set a timer for 5 minutes, and write down everything that's in your head. It could be nonsense words, or your grocery list, or something you have to do for work, or a poem, or a memory from when you were 6, or the dream you had last night.

Keep writing until your timer goes off. And here's the best part -- you don't even need to read it back! You don't need to edit it or revise it. The whole point is getting all the jumbled thoughts out of your head, so you can focus on your day.
