We are committed to a whole child/whole family approach, and offer a range of occupational, speech-language and psychological therapies for youngsters who are living with developmental and mental health challenges. Developmental FX (DFX) is a Denver-based nonprofit committed to a vision of changing care as usual to create a more inclusive world. Our mission is to prepare children with developmental differences for a bright future of engaged belonging by equipping them, their families, therapists, and teachers via innovative programs in Colorado and around the world. DFX offers support to neuro-diverse children and their families, caregivers, educators and healthcare providers in Denver, across Colorado, and around the world, in-person and virtually.

Developmental FX stands with our families and community in recognizing that autism is a neurotype - not a disease.

Every child deserves respect, support, and care. Therapy is not about ‘fixing’ children. It is about offering them resources, addressing their individual needs, building on their strengths, and helping them to thrive as their authentic selves. Because every child’s experiences are unique, our approach must be equally flexible and responsive, and always respectful and affirming. At our 3rd annual community building event, DFX: A Bright Future, we are thrilled to be honoring Dr. Randi J. Hagerman with the DFX HUG award for Heart, Understanding, and Generosity. ⁠

Dr. Hagerman is the director of the Medical Investigation of Neurodevelopmental Disorders (MIND) Institute at the University of California-Davis , a researcher in autism and other neurodevelopmental differences, a distinguished professor of pediatrics, and known across the globe for her groundbreaking work on Fragile X syndrome. ⁠

This award marks a lovely full circle moment for DFX, as Dr. Hagerman has been a mentor and colleague to since her time at Children’s Hospital Colorado and the MIND Institute. Our 2024 HUG honoree, Dr. Nicole Tartaglia, will join us to present the 2025 award.⁠

Participating in the pride parade with our community is always a powerful experience. This year it felt especially meaningful to connect with and be recognized by clients as we marched together. At DFX it is part of our mission to support engaged belonging for each client, celebrating individual differences - a value deeply aligned with this celebration of LGBTQIA+ contributions to our community 🏳️‍🌈

On this day in 1865, enslaved peoples in Galveston, Texas were finally told of the Emancipation Proclamation. Signed two and a half years earlier, this granted them freedom from slavery. This day has long been celebrated in the Black community as a celebration of family and joy - it was recognized as a federal holiday in 2021.

Juneteenth invites us all to honor resilience, liberation, and justice, and reflect on how to protect these values for future generations.
