September is National Su***de Prevention Month 💜

Every year on National Su***de Prevention Month in September, mental health advocates, survivors, friends and family, and mental health organizations across the country and around the world share their experiences and work towards prevention.

All of us together play a role in preventing su***de and raising awareness about this topic.

How to observe and aid:

👋1. Spread the message

Throughout Su***de Prevention Month, it’s extremely important to spread awareness, take time to reach out to those in need and help people understand the severity of this cause.

👋2. Volunteer at a crisis center

Provide support by volunteering at a crisis center in your area. Although this is something that can be done year-round, Su***de Prevention Month is the perfect time to get started.

👋3.Record a supportive video

This is an easy option that doesn’t cost money or time, so anyone can do it. Simply record a 15-30 second video promising your friends to listen to anything they need to say. Then, use the hashtags ***deispreventable #988

If you are in a crisis please call: 988 to speak to someone on the National Su***de & Crisis Lifeline

🍃National Grief Awareness Day🍃

National Grief Awareness Day recognizes the time it takes to heal from loss doesn't have a prescribed course and is a reminder closure comes in many forms.

Just like the butterfly, we may need short rests to be able to spread our wings and fly yet again!🦋

Our tips to help:
Speak with a loved one
Practice self-care
Do activities that bring joy
Speak with a counselor or join a support group

Remember, we all have or will experience it at some point in our lives and 'it's okay, to not be okay.'

Watching movies are a great way to unwind after a long day. What's your favorite comfort movie? 🎬

Join Cole Schlam for Trauma-Sensitive Yoga in September! Trauma-Sensitive Yoga is different from what you experience in a traditional group yoga class. The point is not the pose-but what movement and sensation allows us to explore, self-regulate, and to start freeing the body of held trauma and its symptoms. Every part of you is welcome in this space.

What to expect in each 6-week series:

Each session will start with some education around trauma, the brain, and the body in efforts to validate one’s experience and shed some light on what is happening when stress and trauma go unaddressed.

Each session will include about an hour of slow, gentle yoga that will slightly build in strength as the series progresses.

This series is for EVERYONE. We all hold stress and trauma in our bodies (especiallly now, we are all living with a new, heightened baseline of stress because of how the pandemic and racial reckonings have affected us). This series is for those who’ve experienced any type of trauma and/or heightened stress.
