After answering the call to caregiving, Betty June Harp is officially retiring at the vibrant age of 90. 🎉

She’s been the heart of so many meaningful moments with our Louisville team, and while we’ll miss seeing her smile each day, we’re celebrating all she’s given—and all that’s ahead.

Congratulations on your retirement, Betty June. You’re a legend, a light, and yes, finally a lady of leisure. 💜

July Care Professional of the Month: Holly G

Holly joined our team in the fall of 2018, when she and her husband relocated to Golden from their home state of Alabama. When asked what led her to caregiving, she says she was feeling unfulfilled with her life and career, and she saw caregiving as an opportunity to feel a real sense of purpose. She goes further to say that while she knows she is helping her clients, they are also helping her to live her life to its fullest and do something she loves. It is her goal to meet as many clients as possible as that allows for more" loving encounters" with wonderful people she adores spending time with and learning from. She truly feels she is doing what God has called her to do! When she isn’t working with her clients, Holly enjoys gardening, walking her dog, hiking, and traveling. She has a milestone birthday this month and has a big Colorado adventure celebration planned!!!!

Happy Birthday Holly and thank you for the wonderful care you provide and the enthusiasm and professionalism with which you provide it! We are happy to have you on our team for these nearly 8 years and counting!!!!

June Care Professional of the Month: Jennifer R

Jennifer joined our team back in August of 2024 with a background in assisting autistic individuals and a big heart for seniors, as well as a passion for helping those in her community. Without a lot of caregiving experience, she was confident that she had the qualities and skills to succeed in this new role.

Given the proper Home Instead training courses and support from our staff, Jennifer put her natural skills and characteristics to work and has become one of the favorites among clients and our staff as well! None are likely more pleased to have Jennifer on their care team, than a particular client and her family. While on a shift with this client, Jennifer, seeing her choking, sprang into action with confident, quick, life-saving skills!!! We are all so grateful to Jennifer for her quick reaction, calm demeanor, and compassionate heart!!!

May Care Professional of the Month: LeeAnne T

LeeAnne’s caregiving journey began unexpectedly after a decade-long career in the jewelry business. Considering retirement, her employer (and owner of the jewelry company), presented her with the opportunity to become a companion to her aging mother. Five years later, that family is forever grateful to LeeAnne for the companionship and compassionate care she provided to their mother, who is now nearing her 96th birthday and is still in touch with LeeAnne. The family describes LeeAnne as caring, thoughtful, loving, supportive, and responsible.

Having witnessed LeeAnne over the past few months, we agree wholeheartedly as we routinely hear from our happy clients and family members about how much they love LeeAnne. We are so blessed to have her on our team!

By the time Elena joined Home Instead, she had been a professional caregiver for nearly 20 years and cared for many older adults. Naturally, she brings a high-level skill set and extensive experience with all levels of caregiving. When “let’s talk” feels like too much, start small.
In this episode of Caregiver Chats, Dr. Lakelyn sits down with Amy Friesen, eldercare expert and author of Breadcrumbs, to explore why families avoid planning conversations—and how to gently start them.

Amy shares why it's rarely a one-time talk, how professionals can help ease tension, and why sometimes the message lands better when it doesn’t come from you.

When Thao walks into the room, a veteran with advanced Parkinson’s — mostly nonverbal — lights up and says, “There’s my angel.”
Thao Nguyen, a Care Pro with Home Instead, doesn’t just show up. She brings music. She brings home-cooked Vietnamese meals. She brings peace of mind.

Originally from Vietnam, Thao cared for her grandmother and extended family from a young age. That lifelong devotion to elders followed her to the U.S., where a neighbor introduced her to caregiving.

One family loved her cooking so much, they stocked their pantry just so Thao could prepare her signature dishes. Another client requested her by name each week, just to hear her music in the hall.

“I treat them like my own parents,” Thao says. “I love them so much.”

Thank you, Thao, for reminding us that exceptional caregiving isn’t just noticed.

Let this story be a reminder: great care creates connection that lasts.

This Father’s Day, go beyond the card and support Dad from heart to brain. 💚
Here are 5 simple ways to check in on his health: ↓
🫀 Ask about his heart.
“Have you had your blood pressure checked lately?”

🧠 Keep his brain engaged.
“Want to play a game or share a favorite memory?”

🍽️ Share healthy meals.
“Let’s cook something with brain and heart-healthy ingredients.”

😴 Talk about rest and stress.
“How are you sleeping these days? Anything weighing on you?”

🚶‍♂️ Move together.
“Up for a walk after dinner?”

Because keeping Dad strong is one of the best gifts you can give. 🔁 Share this with someone who loves their dad, too.
