Toni Morrison (1931–2019) was an American novelist, essayist, and Nobel Prize winner whose work gave powerful voice to the African American experience. Her novels, including Beloved, Song of Solomon, and The Bluest Eye, explore themes of identity, history, race, and resilience with lyrical, haunting prose. Morrison was the first Black woman to win the Nobel Prize in Literature, and her legacy continues to shape literature and cultural thought worldwide.

We live in a world predominantly structured around linear time. In biodynamic craniosacral therapy, we agree to accept time that exists outside of the linear.

The healing process often occurs in non-linear time. Especially when dealing with the central nervous system.

As students in the classroom, therapists and clients on the table, we learn to perceive, accept and welcome non-linear time to enter the room.

The forest is breathing 🌲

In its full green splendour, the majesties and complexities of the forest visibly come alive. With the help of the wind, each tree, leaf, and branch sways in perfect harmony—a rhythmic symphony conducted by Mother Nature herself. And yet, the forest is more than just a breathtaking spectacle—it’s a thriving ecosystem, a vibrant community of interconnected life forms that coexist and co-create in a delicate balance.

Next time you’re in nature, close your eyes, and listen👂

These moments of trance are a common encounter on the table during a biodynamic craniosacral therapy session.

A state of complete surrender to the power of the moment.

Love this.

Thanks for the word of the day!

Beautiful sine waves can be found all around in the natural world. Even within our bodies! The autonomic nervous system runs on a sine curve that fluctuates between sympathetic and parasympathetic states. The totality of the autonomic nervous system is intelligent and wise. Both sympathetic and parasympathetic states are here to serve us, with our best interests and health always in mind.

Practice having gratitude today for the totality of your autonomic nervous system!

Thank you for the inspo!

Pain is an intelligent process. If we can be with our pain and let it run its course, eventually it won't need to be heard anymore.

The ability to let it hurt can be so much easier with space held by knowing therapeutic hands. Another beautiful gift of biodynamic craniosacral therapy.

Thank you for the inspo!

We all have a past filled with memories. The good, the bad, the indifferent. How we carry those memories forward today is what really matters in the end.

Sensing in to the support, comfort and understanding we receive from friends and family is an incredible external resource.

Sense in to those that you love and notice what happens in your body.

“What would it be like, I wondered, to live with that heightened sensitivity to the lives given for ours? To consider the tree in the Kleenex, the algae in the toothpaste, the oaks in the floor, the grapes in the wine; to follow back the thread of life in everything and pay it respect? Once you start, it’s hard to stop, and you begin to feel yourself awash in gifts.”

Whenever someone has survived a life or death circumstance - that survival is a resource regardless of what they did to survive it.

We can help people recognize that they've survived by orienting to our voices, the room, the present moment.

"The survival isn't happening now. It was years ago. You made it. And look how incredibly intelligent and wise your body is for ensuring you survive."

“The cultural landscape may have changed, but the conundrum has not - the need to resolve the inescapable tension between honoring life around us and taking it in order to live is part of being human.”

-Robin Wall Kimmerer, Braiding Sweetgrass

How do we honor and respect the natural world around us, yet still maintain so that our species may survive? Remembering our connection to and interdependence on the natural world is a good place to start. This body-centric remembering happens time and time again in biodynamic craniosacral therapy. The scope of our work had the potential to extend way beyond the bodies we come into contact with.

Take a moment to watch what happens in stillness. No agenda. Sitting outside in nature, lying comfortably in bed - what do you notice in your body when you observe the stillness?
